This morning, Whoopi Goldberg called during the show to clarify a statement she made about the recent controversy surrounding Roman Polanski.
Goldberg had said, "It was something else but I don't believe it was rape-rape."
Whoopi wanted to clarify the comment and make it clear that she was talking about the legal charge against Polanski at the time.

I called immediately! I wanted to comment on something I said about Goldberg the other day. I said she was the ugliest mutant I had ever seen, and that it looks like she hasn’t bathed in 50 years. I said that I could not comprehend ANY man ever touching her with a ten foot stick and that her mouth reminded me of a fouled toilet! So, just to be clear,...I stand by that statement!!

But, statutory rape or using the “date rape” drugs are as bad as physical forcible rape. So it’s still unclear to me why Whoopi would have said what she said in the first place. And in fact, he drugged her and forced himself on her. The statutory rape charge pending was part of a plea bargain, which he reneged on when he fled the country.
Nobody is talking much about how he ran away to avoid justice. Those charges, legally speaking, are very serious charges too.
The people who brought us hyphenated Americans now bring us hyphenated crimes.
This is simply lunacy on parade.
Whoopi and The View’s producers had a deluge of frightening phone calls and emails. Otherwise, she would have merely tossed out a bone tickling retort.
Ah yes, the old “What I meant to say was....” and “I’m sorry if anyone was offended.”

Maybe she is feeling the heat or the cold-shoulder from ToysRUs. I hope enough mad-as-hell parents of small girls and boys have renounced her callous comments to her sponsor.
Supposedly Goldberg is a grandmother - let’s hope her grandchild(ren) are not victimized by such a monster as Polanski.
