WASHINGTON -- The Senate Finance Committee turned back Republican-led efforts to tighten abortion restrictions in health-overhaul legislation, and the Senate's top Democrat said he wants to bring a sweeping bill to the floor in two weeks.
Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) said Wednesday he expected to begin Senate debate the week of Oct. 12, which would be the biggest step forward yet for legislation designed to accomplish President Barack Obama's goal of extending health-insurance coverage to tens of millions of Americans.

looks like they are moving toward pushing on Oct15 just as Rahm said......they dont care about the American citizens
sorry guys...i think we lost our Country...to socialism
I think Senator Hatch has the right approach here. If a woman wants to have an abortion, that's her decision (and one that I don't like), BUT pay for your own policy and don't dare try to tell me what I can and cannot do then.
So now we’re going to be forced to financially underwrite the government’s murdering children.
The democrats/socialists/communists now have taken responsibility for the millions of babies to be murdered as a result of their Godless inhumanity. Sleep well...MURDERERS!

Dear Governor Perry,
On March 30, 2009 the Texas House of Representatives passed HCR 50 affirming that the State of Texas claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment.
You have publicly supported this bill, and stated that attorney generals from all over the union could be getting ready to sue the US Government.
We are asking you to take the lead.
We are asking you to order the Texas Attorney General to publicly begin working on a law suit under Article IV, Ninth, and Tenth Amendment of the Constitution.
We are asking you to protect the citizens of Texas that we will not stand for government controlled healthcare in our state.
Under your leadership we can effectively kill the proposal of this administration and allow Texas to be a state free from socialism and collectivism.
Be the voice of reason in the national debate and allow Texans the ability to solve the problems of our state.
Thank you,

Facts about the 10th Amendment:
The Tenth Amendment (Amendment X) of the United States Constitution, which is part of the Bill of Rights, was ratified on December 15, 1791. The Tenth Amendment restates the Constitutions principle of Federalism by providing that powers not granted to the national government nor prohibited to the states are reserved to the states or the people.
HCR 50 HAS PASSED THE HOUSE 99-36!
Affirming that the State of Texas claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the U.S. Constitution, serving notice to the federal government to cease and desist certain mandates, and providing that certain federal legislation be prohibited or repealed.
Take Action! Before it is too late!

REMEMBER THIS,TEXANS:
Feds Have Built Only 32 Miles of 700 Mile Double-Border Fence Originally Mandated by Congress
One reason DHS has been able to do this is an amendment that Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R.-Texas) slipped into an omnibus appropriations bill that Congress passed on December 18, 2007. Hutchisons amendment put a loophole in the fence law that allowed the secretary of Homeland Security not to build the fence Congress had mandated the year before.

Please pray to God that He intervenes quickly regarding abortion. Mother Teresa of Calcutta sent me a prayer (through my husband who wrote her and she indeed wrote back!) that I was to say, “Mary, Mother of Jesus be a mother to me now, make me better.” I thought the prayer interesting because it was a bit demanding, but because Mother Teresa was such a saintly individual, I accepted the prayer with fervor and use it frequently. So I think we can surely be a bit demanding to Our Lord as well regarding life issues. He WILL end abortion, but we must keep asking Him to do so, over and over again.
It is clear the Democrats intend to include the killing of innocent unborn children as a government funded “procedure.” Just as it is clear they intend to ration care to the old and sick at the end of life. An American political party entirely committed to the Culture of Death. Truly an appalling vista. How can we resist?
I watched this for a short time on one of the C SPAN’S last night. The video should be available.
Taxes are automatically taken out of my weekly paycheck. Remind me again why I should remain in this country?
Seem like a better idea would be to move elsewhere until the socialist party finally collapses under the weight of its own corruption, lies, brutality, and bloodlust.
I’m with you. If we are going to allow this, I refuse to live in a Communist country under a corrupt government.
I thought there was a law that taxpayers don’t ever pay for abortions. It’s not like they are expensive, if they want to be irresponsible and have an abortion and murder a baby, then we should REFUSE to pay for it. No matter what we have to do, we REFUSE. It’s time to stop playing nice. Abortions are not expensive. If they can’t afford one, then they get a job and have the baby.
If a woman wants to have an abortion, that’s her decision (and one that I don’t like), BUT pay for your own policy and don’t dare try to tell me what I can and cannot do then.
So if your neighbor wants to murder her 2 year old, do stand by the argument that it’s “her decision”????? Just wondering.
What do you think my POINT was?
It wasn’t about murdering two-year olds, because we have laws against that. That’s not a valid comparison.
I’ll say it again (paraphrasing like Rush has been saying for years) ...
“Kill a baby in the womb, you have that choice, but don’t dare light a tobacco product or allow a casino, etc., etc. in your state.”
Now, do you udnerstand?
Why in the world would you ever think that I would support the murder of two-year olds. I’m sorry, but that’s not even clear thinking.

"I simply turn on the Golden EIB Microphone and share my honest passions and beliefs with people. And they're free to go elsewhere. They're free to ignore; they're free to believe; they're free to be entertained, I don't care. They're free to do whatever they want. But a lot of people aren't free to smoke cigarettes where they want; they're not free to drink where they want; they're not free to eat the kind of food they want to eat; they're not free to eat trans fats; they're not free to drive certain places. Pretty soon we're going to be told what kind of cars we have to drive. I can't cause that. I can't restrict anybody's freedom. We've elected a guy who can, does, and wants to, all under the guise of saving us. So I appreciate the effort, and I appreciate somewhat losing my temper here. But don't compare me ever to an authoritarian who thinks so little of people that without him they can barely breathe on their own. Don't ever do that." LEARN IT, LOVE IT, LIVE IT! If one cannot understand Rush's words above, then one does not truly understand FREEDOM! |
If you're going to allow something as horrid as abortion, don't dare preach to me or tell me what I can and cannot do (within reason, of course).
The mischief that would follow from eliminating all restrictions on child abuse and regarding children as 100% the property of their parents would be minor compared with the mischief that follows from regarding children as property of the state. Some parents would murder their children if allowed to do so, but their ability to pass their murderous ideology to their offspring would be limited. By contrast, the ideology that would regard children as property of the state can spread without limit. It is thus far more dangerous.
What do you think my POINT was?
I thought your point was apathy towards abortion (well, their decision....) I was just wondering if you would say that about a parent killing a 2 year old child......would you say it was simply “the parent’s decision”....even we as conservatives sometimes fall into the pitfall of “the unborn is not as valuable as any other life”....even if it’s subtle references.... My guess is that you wouldn’t say about a mom wanting to murder her 2 year “it’s her decision”....
Do you understand now what I was saying now?
