Next years U.S. Senate race in Ohio is a neck-and-neck battle for Republican Rob Portman no matter which Democratic candidate he faces, according to the first Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 survey in the state.
Portman is in a virtual tie with Lieutenant Governor Lee Fisher 41% to 40%. Six percent (6%) of Ohio voters favor some other candidate, and 14% are undecided.
The former GOP congressman is also essentially even with Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, leading by a similarly insignificant 40% to 38% margin. Five percent (5%) prefer another candidate. Eighteen percent (18%) are not sure how they will vote in this race.
All three are announced candidates for the seat being vacated by retiring Republican Senator George Voinovich. For Portman, who
Brunner will arrange it so that her crooked self wins.
Portman would be a big improvement over Voinovich.
You’re exactly right, Portman was behind. But isn’t it interesting how Ras, despite Rob’s big improvement in the polls, appears to paint this as bad news for the likely Republican nominee because he’s so close to both of his potential opponents?
All he has to do is tie Brunner to Acorn ( she is the one who did away with the link to the DMV to check if voters are actually from Ohio...on purpose!). Lee fisher was an attorney at one of the biggest law firms in Cleveland (need I say more). It shouldn’t be that hard to bring these two down!
encouraging sign here in Ohio. Portman has very low name ID here in Ohio while fischer and brunner are much more widely known. Heck, I don’t even know that much about him and I follow this stuff. ..hopefully Ohio will return to its roots after after Taft nearly ruined the Ohio GOP...too bad Blackwell got caught in the Taft whirlpool......he is a real deal conservative.
It’s not who casts the votes,
It’s who counts the votes.
Brunner has got to go! But she’s owed BIG TIME!
Portman is an ideal candidate for the GOP in this race. Fiscal and social conservative. Extremely knowledgeable on trade, economics and employee benefits. Very well spoken. Amazing capacity to remember details and names. If he wins this race I look for him to be a dark horse candidate for the GOP VP slot in 2010. It will put Ohio in play and get the Buckeye conservatives off of the couch and into the polling booths.
Brunner was involved in the personal attacks/investigations on “Joe the Plumber” after he correctly called OBOZO a socialist.
