Father of one of the Belleville bullies is a minister

Like many mothers from this area, I was astonished and sickened to see the brutal beating on the Belleville school bus that made headlines all over the country. I have no idea if this was racially motivated as I wasn't there and I don't want to fuel that speculation. If someone is beating the snot out of you, it doesn't matter what the motivation is -- it is reprehensible no matter what. But, like many people, I wondered what on earth were the lives and backgrounds of the bullies like that they would behave like this?

Monday night, I was stunned when news footage of this story showed the father of one of the bullies in a Roman collar and he was bemoaning the fact that this video had ruined THEIR lives! Now, I am not one to believe that the sins of the child are necessarily a reflection of the parent. I understand that lots of well-meaning parents are exasperated by wild children. But I cannot believe that a MINISTER would be whining about how this had hurt his family instead of expressing concern for the life his child ruined!

Ministers kids live in glass houses and are expected to behave well. Extra communication is required for them, just as Politicians kids, so they don't blow up under the scrutiny and snotty attacks folks do.

If their Kid is bullying one of your kids, ask him what advice they would give regarding your kid being bullied. After they give the advice, THEN TELL THEM IT WAS THIER KID.

Believe me, they will get the message and deal with the kid.

PS: The government schools are lousy at dealing with bullies.

To be fair to the minister, the news clearly only showed a brief clip. He may very well have expressed concern and remorse for the victim, but the report only showed the clip relevant to the subject of whether or not the video should have been released.

On a broader topic:

I think Education curriculum have gotten worse over the past decades.
I think the quality of teachers, in many cases, has declined over the past decades.
I think the government schools are an abomination.

But the bottomline is that today's parenting makes teaching many of these kids virtually impossible. I saw the video from the bus. Indefensible. In-De-Fensible. To have a parent (no matter the occupation) stand up and whine that one of the bullies is now suffering really tells you why the public schools are a cesspit.

Growing up in a comfortable suburb in the 1960s & 70s, the worst smart ass on the block was the preacher’s kid next door. Fortunately, despite a disadvantage in size, I thrashed him the one time we came to blows.

People don't use the term "thrashed" very much anymore, and I miss it. They say I punched the guy, or beat him up, or socked him- but never "thrashed. I applaud you. Now, if you had just said, "I thrashed the bounder", it would have been perfect.

I agree, kids who behave like the perpetrators on that bus should be removed from society for a few years. It's obvious their parents were unable to teach them how to conduct themselves.

But the bottomline is that today's parenting makes teaching many of these kids virtually impossible.

The values taught in the government schools for several generations now almost guarantee that kids will grow up to ineffectual parents. We are now into our 3 and 4 generation and soon there will be no one alive who remembers how to parent properly.

If we want to turn our nation around we must get the kids out of the government schools and into tution-free and private conservative schools. We must shut down the government schools. Only if we raise up a righteous generation can save this nation.

Finally,...There are schools in this nation that are soooooo HORRIFIC that it would be better for a child never to attend! Illiteracy and innumeracy would be better than having to suffer ( or witness) what happened on this bus.
