NICOSIA - Al Qaeda warned Germans on Friday to change their government in the September 27 election, saying they will face a bad awakening if they do not, according to two intelligence monitoring services. Germany was also told to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan or face attacks at home, the US-based monitoring groups said.
In video footage a man identified as Abu Talha the German, and speaking in German, asks his Muslim brethren to stay away from anything not vital for two weeks after the election, according to IntelCenter.
Abu Talha, whose real name is said to be Bekkay Harrach, also asks Muslim youths in Germany to let Al Qaeda act first if the jihad were to begin in Germany, and says they will be told if action is required afterwards.
He also said the city of Kiel will remain safe.
The authenticity of the nearly 26-minute video, also released by the SITE Intelligence Group, cannot be independently verified.
Abu Talha first appeared in a video entitled Germanys Rescue Plan from Al Qaedas media arm, As-Sahab, on January 17.
He later dictated an audio message that was released on February 26 and was entitled Islam and the Financial Crisis.
Conservative German Chancellor Angela Merkel appears to be on track for re-election, although an opinion poll published on Friday showed her lead to be shrinking.
IMHO in some ways they've "gone soft" -- that's where the market is, after all, but my sense is that they're not laid all the arms down forever. Your comments requested.
I'll like to see what the Germans would do after suffering from a terrorist attack by Al-Qaeda terrorists.
Well if Germany doesn’t start deporting muslims as fast as they can get them out of the country after that little message they need their heads examined.
“My thought too; I’m an American member of a German-dominated committee and I see how they think. Germany may look pacifist today, but if Al-Qaeda picks a fight with Germany A-Q has NO idea what will be coming down their throat in short order — and I can assure you it won’t be pretty for A-Q.”
I agree. I interacted with quite a few of my Bundeswehr counterparts when I was assigned at USEUCOM in Stuttgart. The Germans may have current constitutional requirements that call for pacifism, but that doesn’t speak to what will happen to those who directly pick a fight with them. I, too, believe the terrorists will not know what hit them if they pull a 9-11 on the Germans. I won’t believe for one minute they wouldn’t defend their homeland.
