45% Of Doctors Would Consider Quitting If Congress Passes Health Care Overhaul
Investor's Buisiness Daily ^ | 15 Sep 2009 | Terry Jones

Posted on 09/17/2009 12:34:23 PM PDT by Admiral_Zeon

Two of every three practicing physicians oppose the medical overhaul plan under consideration in Washington, and hundreds of thousands would think about shutting down their practices or retiring early if it were adopted, a new IBD/TIPP Poll has found.

The poll contradicts the claims of not only the White House, but also doctors' own lobby — the powerful American Medical Association — both of which suggest the medical profession is behind the proposed overhaul.

It also calls into question whether an overhaul is even doable; 72% of the doctors polled disagree with the administration's claim that the government can cover 47 million more people with better-quality care at lower cost.

The IBD/TIPP Poll was conducted by mail the past two weeks, with 1,376 practicing physicians chosen randomly throughout the country taking part. Responses are still coming in, and doctors' positions on related topics — including the impact of an overhaul on senior care, medical school applications and drug development — will be covered later in this series.

If Barry can force us to have health insurance, he’ll just force people to be doctors.

Or import them from the middle east like the UK does. Of course, you get the occasionally terror plot, but it would be worth it, so that illegals can get abortions free of charge.

“Why two out of every three doctors in the US recommend ‘NoBama’ health care. Don’t you wish your doctor did?”

All it would take is about half the physicians not coming to work for two weeks in protest, and the Medicare crowd would be hunting down the Democrat politicians with tar and feathers. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Well, if that many can afford to quit or retire, maybe Obama is not such a bad guy.

As mentioned previously, Yep. That's what happens.

Then the country is forced to bring graduates from the Universities of Mombassa, Calcutta, Abuja, Ogbunka, and Etc

and then they start doing things like this:

My doctor has already told me if this passes she will be retiring. She’s a wonderful doctor that I’ve been going to for over 15 years. I’d hate to lose her, but totally understand her decision.

After graduation from UCSD in 1976, I decided not to pursue med school. The rise of malpractice insurance and high cost of going to med school were the major factors. Socialized medicine is already taking a toll via Medicare and Medicaid programs. It's hard to get reimbursed for actual costs...never mind retiring med school debts and exorbitant insurance premiums. There are many less stressful ways to be employed that would net as much income. The bottom line is that most of us work to pay our bills. Why should you work extra hard for the same net pay?

I’m waiting until the Obama administration does the same for the legal profession. Universal access to law firms at little to no cost to the taxpayer. Everyone will have a lawyer they can call or visit as much as they want and it won’t over burden the courts and lawyers will earn more while we all pay little or nothing for their services. Sounds doable, right???

Shall I hold my breath?

Stupid Obama administration!

I decided not to because of grades. That may not be an issue in the future.
