It's a shame this conversation focuses on Glenn Beck, a decided lightweight in the info-tainment lineup, but he is the person coming to town and causing anxiety among some local people.
The Easton branch of the NAACP asked the theater to cancel Beck's show because members attribute statements to him such as President Barack Obama has a "deep-seated hatred" for white people.
I can't tell you first hand if Beck did or did not say such a thing but I can tell you it doesn't bother me one way or the other.
In fact, I don't care about anything that comes out of his mouth. I have listened to his program and find him tedious.
The problem is that discourse in our era has become so one-sided and partisan that it deters free thinking.
People flock only to opinions with which they agree. That's a very dangerous trend and threatens to turn us into a generation of Stepford Wives or worse.
These people are entertainers. They get up in the morning, read the newspapers, latch onto the most inflammatory point of view they can fathom and prepare their best salvos for the airwaves.
But anything you learn from these entertainers is not because that have done any reporting.
As for Beck, some people like him and care to hear what he has to say. Others simply tune him out. But for some, his rhetoric is overwhelming and they see a need to try to silence him. That's not a good idea and plays into the hands of those who want to shout over opposing voices.
State Theatre boss Shelley Brown politely and correctly turned away the request to cancel Beck's show. If people are interested enough to pay money to hear him speak, let them do it.

Glenn will appear at the magnificently restored State Theater in Easton, PA in January. I believe the show has been sold out.

I guess the media got offended when Glenn called them out for not doing their job as “journalists”.
“As for Beck, some people like him and care to hear what he has to say. Others simply tune him out.”

The media is pond scum.
Editorial from the Express-Times:
“Beck is a pompous little troll, has no self control on the air and will regret, over time, being defined as the man who called America’s first black president a racist.”

“...a decided lightweight in the info-tainment lineup..”
What’s the matter, Mr. Owens, your articles not getting enough attention, so you lash out at those who do their jobs?
“The Easton branch of the NAACP asked the theater to cancel Beck’s show because members attribute statements to him such as President Barack Obama has a “deep-seated hatred” for white people.”
I myself think that last night hissy fit by Kanye West is because of his deep seated hatred for white people!
NAACP might want to look into that!
They’re doing what ever it takes to destroy this common man, all for using their OWN words and statements against them, calling out the leftstream media cohorts, and most of all stirring up the 9/12 project getting the silent majority a voice against their dear leader,How dare he.. Bottom line he is a threat..alinskies rules identify, personalize, demonize, destroy..
“The problem is that discourse in our era has become so one-sided and partisan that it deters free thinking.”
If one desires individuality over collectivism, somehow they are one-sided in their values and are a close minded in their beliefs.
"He is unqualified to have any opinion because, unlike ME, he's not paid by elitists to pre-chew information and reguritate it out to tell you what to think."
Laugh while you can, monkey boy. We know who the collaborators are.
Scroll down the newspaper article and read the comments by local residents.
LOL! No he can't hold a candle to BET. /s/

I’m sure you’ll all remember the ‘Express Times’! Can you imaging the thrill of being a writer for this prestigious rag! What a moron!
I guess no one can be loved by everyone, if they are, then they are probably trying to butter every one,s toast.
I agree with Glen Beck on most of what I have heard him talk about, Although I don,t get the chance to listen very much, and If he called obama racist then I will certainly agree with that although i don,t think it has any thing to do with Obama,s politics, and I have heard Glen Beck is the third most listened to talk show host in america.
One sided performer? what should he do/ talk about all of the good things of socialism?
You can not worship God and baal at the same time.
and when some one tries to be too politicaly correct they can not get the message across, so let us say it as we see it.
All of the great men from Jesus the christ to George Washington has been hated by the world rulers, think about that.
