I have no idea how these crowds are measured anyway. I can look at a picture of a crowd and really can’t evaluate how many people are in it, except for the extremes.

I can tell the difference between a crowd of 5,000 and 50,000. I know what 20,000 people looks like from personal experience at sports arenas. But how do these media folks look at a picture of a crowd and have any idea whether it is 500,000 people or 750,000 people? Or a million?

I think they just make it up.

There was not a million people there. Probably between 200,000 to 400,000. Compared to other events, it looked about as crowded as the million man march. Still an amazing showing.
