Here is one approach: 1. Bypass the school board for now(unless you do both) contact the Principal directly 2. Before you talk to the Principal fax or email them the above sample letter tailored to their school. 3. Do not get off the phone until you have a committment to agree to the opt-out provision. 4. Report back to this thread the names, numbers and ,status: agreed to opt-out or refused, so that others don't duplicate your work.
Well consider taking action, just fishing will help your kids but won't help Johnny's classmates.

My son is a tenth grader attending the IB program at Thornton High School. He called me this morning and told me that he talked to a lady at the school office and at first she acted like she didn’t know anything about the event. However, when my son said that he wanted to opt out, she gave him the impression that she wasn’t an Obama fan and that my son would not have to participate.
