Here is the synopsis of basically how we are winning. Susan Meek, spokeswoman for the Douglas County School District received many calls of complaints. The office considered the issue and issued a communique to schools on the issue. Next, Staci McCormack, a local Principal took action and agreed to an opt-out policy. Amazingly, the Principal went so far as to alert each and every parent about the choice that they could make for their child under the opt-out policy. She also acknowledged that she’d heard from some parents unhappy at the prospect of their children seeing the Obama speech.
So basically, going that extra mile and making an actual phone call to the Principal can have results and a direct impact.
Awesome.
Our local superintendent said they had - and I quote - "zillions of calls" from concerned parents. :D
