This is BS. Co-ops supported by the government could have a similar effect. It depends on how much money they are willing to lose and how they are set up. If all they do is buy insurance from competing insurers, that’s one thing, but if they are authorized and capitalized to venture into insurance themselves, that’s quite different.

Maybe you missed something. These “co-ops” would be run by a baord appointed by the President. They ARE the public option with a new name.
