Calling the entire French people nazis because one guy defaced Winnie’s staute is similar to calling all Americans nazis because of Pat Buchanan’s editorials.

It’s missing the fold-out white flag.

Englishman/American: "Sprechen ze Deutch?"

Frenchman: "Non!"

Englishman/American: "You're WELCOME!"

“...Sarko is of Hungarian descent. French can only succeed under non French leaders. Napoleon was corsican.”

At least he wasn’t Kenyan.

He is also remembered for ordering the Allied bombing of occupied France, which led to thousands of French deaths.

An estimated 10,000 French civilians were killed by allied shelling, bombing, and ground combat operations during the Allied invasion of Normandy. The French civilians at that time and place realized that civilian casualties were unavoidable if France and western Europe was to be liberated from the cruel Nazi occupation that had dragged on for over 4 years by then.

When American vets of that invasion held a reunion in Normandy a few years ago they were treated like the heroes they are by the French people of that region who remembered what hell on earth had been like under Hitler's Gestapo and SS troops, and who it was who freed them and their parents from that reign of terror at the cost of many thousands of Allied lives as well as thousands of French civilian's lives. If the person(s) who defaced Churchill's statue had lived under Nazi occupation for four long years of terror, arrests, torture, and executions of civilians by inhuman Nazi occupiers I doubt that he, or they if more than one, would have defaced a memorial dedicated to a great man who was instrumental in freeing them and all of France from the demented monster in Berlin.

Exactly. Americans are ones to talk about France, after who we elected last November.

I’d much rather have Sarkozy, than the Usurper.

He once said that: "Of all the crosses I have to bear, the heaviest is the Cross of Lorraine."

Roosevelt had once remarked that deGaulle thought that he was Joan of Arc, to which Churchill is said to have replied: "Yes, but, unfortunately, the Bishop won't let me burn him."

If the French had not sold out Czechoslovakia, they could have avoided the entire Second World War.

And if they didn’t have ancient and incompetent generals leading their army, they might have avoided defeat at the hands of the Wehrmacht.

“Instead, Churchill had him thrown in prison in 1941, and the war continued for a further four years.”

Good Lord, what a bowdlerization of history this is! The goofy Hess thought he could end the war single-handedly. The British didn’t take him the least bit seriously, and they were right. Hitler was furious at what Hess had done. If anyone thinks the war continued because of the British putting Hess in jail, I suggest they may be suffering from the same delusion Hess was.

Neville Chamberlain was a part of the agreement to cede the Sudetenland to Chermany. Don't blame it all on the Frogs.

“That is because Sarko is of Hungarian descent. French can only succeed under non French leaders. Napoleon was corsican.”

Sarkozy is of mixed European descent, partly Hungarian, partly French, and partly Greek. This is not atypical for France, the French population is not monolithic at all. Because France is positioned at land’s end in Western Europe, it has historically been a sort of genetic collection point for immigrants from all over Europe. France is mostly populated by persons of Germanic, Celtic, and Roman genes (and a fair degree of mixing of these), with a large boost in recent years from North Africa (Algeria primarily), although the French don’t intermarry with North Africans too much yet. As far as describing a typical Frenchman, it depends somewhat on which part of the country you’re in. I spent a fair amount of time in Normandy, and the people there greatly resemble white Americans; I found that they’re generally taller and fairer (lots of blond/light brown/red hair and blue, green or hazel eyes) than Frenchman from the Parisian area, who, on average, are shorter and tend to have darker hair and eyes. So when you’re talking about the French, you’re not really talking about a race, but rather a culture.

But it was the French who were adamant about punishing Germany after WWI. If they weren’t so obstinate, Hitler never would have risen to power. Woodrow Wilson, to his credit, tried to talk the French out of it, but they would have none of it.

Ummmm.... Don’t forget that the Brits sank the French fleet at Mers-el-Kebir after the fall of France in 1940; 1297 French officers and sailors were killed.
There might be some connection there.
