There are two basic points about health-care reform that President Obama wants to convey. The first is that, as he put it in an ABC special in June, "the status quo is untenable." Our health-care system is rife with "skewed incentives." It gives us "a whole bunch of care" that "may not be making us healthier." It generates too many specialists and not enough primary-care physicians. It is "bankrupting families," "bankrupting businesses" and "bankrupting our government at the state and federal level. So we know things are going to have to change."
Obama's second major point is that--to quote from the same broadcast--"if you are happy with your plan and you are happy with your doctor, then we don't want you to have to change ... So what we're saying is, If you are happy with your plan and your doctor, you stick with it."
So the system is an unsustainable disaster, but you can keep your piece of it if you want. And the Democrats wonder why selling health-care reform to the public has been so hard?
Again and again, their effort has brought us into a land of paradoxes. Public skepticism is warranted when the President promises to cut costs while simultaneously providing coverage to nearly 50 million uninsured people. It is even more warranted when his congressional allies seek to raise taxes to pay for all the new spending that this cost-cutting entails. We aren't talking about short-term spending either; this isn't a trillion-dollar investment in a new system that will ultimately save money. The Congressional Budget Office says the leading health-care-reform proposals will increase health-care spending and make the budget harder to balance in the long run. Yet saving money is the President's principal stated rationale for reform.

Should I be a good Comrade and report Time magazine to dear leader?
Yes, it needs some changing but not a government takeover.
But you, dear Pre-sent won't let anyone outside your own party have input and be part of it, so this makes you very unlikely to be honest about anything. PERIOD
I suggest we all do. The way I read the piece it implicitly calls Obama a Liar... Same thing I have been saying when he talks that crap about being able to keep your own doctor and that they will pay for it by reducing costs in the system...
Obama Lied Grandma died.
Don't worry, I already did.
Should I be a good Comrade and report Time magazine to dear leader?

Yes, you MUST, Comrade, and do it at ONCE. IT IS FOR THE GREATER GOOD! ;-)
Stanley Greenberg, who was polling for Clinton back then, recently reminded Democrats that the insured public in the early '90s just could not be persuaded that the President was going to cut its costs by expanding coverage for others..
The Democrats think the public is stupid (they are only part right; fifty-two percent voted for Obama) but they are not completely stupid.
The public knows you dont get something for nothing. Adding millions of new patients you cant pay for by eliminating a few unnecessary test.
Is Time going to put the Obama Joker on their next cover?
I think it means that handwriting is on the wall...I am seeing democrats start to backtrack..
You even have Durbin saying he would consider a bill with no public option.
There are 100000 things wrong with the bill
Absolutely! :P
There is only one problem to worry about with government run healthcare; it violates the equilibrium of markets. And at some point, the whole damn thing collapses upon itself.
Print,4 to a page, cut them into 4 flyers. Take about 1000, start spreading them. Car windshields, grocery carts and shelves, banks, post office, everywhere you go, leave a few. Any left? Be a litterbug for one day, let the wind take them everywhere. Got a plane? Print up 10K and let them lose.
“Should I be a good Comrade and report Time magazine to dear leader?”
You made me spit Diet-Pepsi out of my nose! But in a good way; it made me laugh. That actually is an EXCELLENT idea. I dare you. Report TIME (of all magazines) and get CNN on Obama’s hitlist. Actually, I triple dog-care you!
“Obama Lied Grandma died.”
That would be an excellent bumper sticker. Send in your idea!
I like the photo (piggies) :)

This third party payer, big corporations, plus government meddling along with high tort costs are the two primary reason health care is so expensive.
We need to get government out of our health care lives and we need to make it illegal for companies to pay for health care.
If companies want to increase their workers pay by the amount of their health care costs, that is fine.
Tax free health care savings accounts are fine too, so long as they are funded 100 percent by the employee. Only when the employee writes the check himself will he truly see how much health care is costing him. Then extravagence and high cost will be punished and lower cost plans will flourish.
The important thing is to stop the employer from getting in the middle.
