A black sergeant who was at the home of Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. when he was arrested says he's been maligned as an "Uncle Tom" for supporting the actions of the white arresting officer. Cambridge Sgt. Leon Lashley gave a letter to Sgt. James Crowley to give to President Barack Obama during their so-called beer summit with Gates on Thursday night at the White House. In the letter, which was also sent to CNN, Lashley says Gates "may have caused grave and potentially irreparable harm to the struggle for racial harmony." Lashley says he has become known as a traitor to his heritage by some because he "spoke the truth" about the arrest. Gates was charged with disorderly conduct by police investigating a burglary. The charge was later dropped.

Remember this conversation from the other day?
Maybe Biden was asked to be there in case they needed some comic relief.
Biden is about the only white guy Obama socializes with.
In the picture it looks like the Hildabeast is spying on them through the bushes (over Crowley’s left shoulder), maybe it’s Michelle. Very spooky whoever-whatever it is........
But, Sgt. Lashley, and others like him who show such admirable courage by standing for truth, do tremendous good for 'the struggle for racial harmony'.
Every time one person stands for the truth it opens eyes and makes someone else stronger, so that when their time comes to make a choice between right and wrong in the face of great adversity their courage is strengthened by those who have gone before them. God bless everyone who has the courage to stand for truth.
Someone a lot wiser than any of us said to know the truth. The truth will set you free.
When all is said and done, Gates and Obama may have unintentionally done more good than we know for racial harmony by their actions.
I read that the Gates incident happened five days before the story "broke" and a picture of him in handcuffs on the front porch of the house was "leaked". Five days. That sounds like a plan. Sometimes things that were intended for evil purposes turn out for the good.
The release of Lucia Whalen's 911 call, and her interview about the attacks and threats she received because of false assumptions about it, was a powerful and genuine 'teachable moment'.
A sermon was seen on the statement MLK made so many years ago about skin color and character. Perhaps America was listening. I hope so. We all are Americans regardless of the color of our skin. It's about time we got rid of the hyphens.
But when asked about the letter, he seemed to say he didn’t know about any letter. I’ll have to go back and look at it again.
I think he did not have it before he went to the White House, but his friend had planned to give him a copy.
He never crossed my mind - I was thinking, maybe one reporter was allowed! LOL! Can’t blame me, Joe is so ‘not there’! :)
Couple of whites, couple blacks, that seems fair. With Joe joining the beerfest the IQ at the table just dropped 30 points. If Joe had not been there it would have looked like a “Oreo cookie” beerfest. What no Beer pong?
