I remember this controversy when it unfolded on the front pages of our nation's newspapers. Moon landing was headline top of page. Chappaquiddick was bottom front page.

Kennedy left the scene and left Mary Jo to die. He did not contact authorities until the following day even though his walk from the scene took him past at least five homes at any of which he could have telephoned and summoned help. He has never asked for forgiveness for causing the death of Mary Jo. This coward has never even acknowledged that he did anything wrong! Nor did he ever apologize or explain to Mary Jos parents what had happened to their daughter even though he met with them twice.
The passage of time does not lessen the evilness of Ted Kennedy's actions. Thus, I write him each year to let him know his cowardly actions that July night will never be forgotten; Mary Jo will never be forgotten. I write him to let him know his legacy will always be that of a coward who left a young woman to die a watery death while he scampered to safety and to access just how to salvage his political career.
Contact this turd and let him know we will never forget his actions. Let him know we will never forget Mary Jo.
You can contact Kennedy here.
I did earlier today.

Chappaquiddick....*my comments*
He may be "the Lion of the Senate", but I will never forget Chappaquiddick. For the uninitiated, a must read is Leo Damore's excellent book Senatorial Privilege....*Truly, A great book*Ted *Swimmer* Kennedy has styled himself an opponent of wealth and privilege, but his career is a tribute to their power when wielded by a man of the left. The lesson of Chappaquiddick thus remains timely forty years on.

Weren’t the parents of Mary Jo Kopechne paid off to be quiet by the Kennedy’s?

Why was it in Kennedy’s interest to let her drown? Did he just like the thrill of murder or was he not supposed to be driving around with her late at night? Was he married at the time?

Thanks to Haole, from a haole on the Big Island
for putting this out here for all to see and reminding us of the cowardly past of Kennedy. You deserve a lot of credit. Mary Joe Kopechne paid the ultimate price/sacrifice and in her death it made certain that Kennedy would not become president. I remember that at the time until Chappaquiddick he would have been an almost shoo-in for pres.

Mary Jo Kopechne’s death is the perfect example of God turning even a bad situation to the good. Because of it, Teddy Kennedy would never be elected President. He’s done plenty of harm in the Senate, but nothing compared to what he could have done in the White House.

And he paid back the feminazis by being one of the biggest supporters of abortions ever elected. God should have a special place for this rather rotund murderer!

“Doubtful”? He’s still in office 40 yrs later, in spite of being a vegetable. He got away with it. It wasn’t “doubtful” either. It’s a damn shame.

Another Big Island haole here. Nice to meet you, gentlemen.
Chappaquiddick, moon landing, Charles Manson, Woodstock: that was one memorable summer, as I had just finished high school in Chicago and was packing my trunk to come out to UH Hilo.
Teddie's boozing & political bullying these ensuing 40 years are probably a futile attempt to drown out the cowardly no-count he really is.

Ask a young person about this story, and they won’t know anything about it.
We need to educate young people in our families about Ted Kennedy.
To: haole
In a move which must have been rather tortuous for her parents, Kennedy attended Mary Jo's funeral, wearing a neck brace (which he reportedly never wore again) and looking rather pathetic. And I have no respect for anyone for MA who has ever voted for this POS.

Hard to imagine the 'doubt' re this story! Perhaps those who were too young to read; or those who came along afterward; and so perhaps by now; have little or no clue as to what happened.
Of course, there are those Libs in denial; and the Kennedy family; who like all good Leftists; forsake 'truth' for their own 'better cause'. In this case for the Kennedy's; sacrificed Mary Jo; for their name and the legacy it implies. . .
That said; IMHO the best online synopis/chronicling of this tragedy is here. Gripping with it's presentation of facts and testimony. . .
