If we could get millions of Americans to march on Washington, what would we do?

(continuing my remarks from prior thread)

Here is our recourse as declared by our Founding Fathers:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

It cannot be denied that the central government has become destructive of our unalienable rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness and our rights to live free. The government is no longer responsive to we the People. They have stretched and shredded the constitution to the point that they have illegally seized for themselves virtually unlimited powers over the citizens and act as if we have no rights and no powers of our own. They are acting without our consent.

Our Founders established that when our government becomes destructive of our rights then it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

We have reached the point where the government's long train of abuses and usurpations has achieved absolute Despotism, therefore it is our right, it is our duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for our future security.

Therefore, We the People of America choose to exercise our right to throw off and alter the abusive government by peacefully recalling and removing from office the President of the United States, the Vice President of the United States and all U.S. Senators and U.S. Representatives effective immediately.

An interim provisional Chief Executive and congressional representatives will be established as follows:

The Secretary of State shall immediately assume the office of interim Chief Executive. The Chief Executive shall appoint and the interim Senate shall confirm an interim Vice President.

An immediate election shall be held within each state legislature to appoint two interim senators to represent each sovereign state.

A special election shall be held by all states within 30 days to elect interim members of the House of Representatives.

Elections for regular government offices shall be conducted in November, 2010 as previously scheduled, except that elections will be held for all elective offices, including President, Vice President and all U.S. Representatives. U.S. Senators will be elected per class schedule by the various state legislatures.

We alter the government to provide new Guards for our future security as follows:

The Constitution of the United States must be kept intact and must be adhered to and strictly followed by all government entities as originally intended. The government has stretched the constitutional limits well beyond those intended by our founders. We must take steps to ensure that this is corrected and that the out of control government is reined in and that sufficient measures are introduced to maintain the limits, checks and balances on government and that government powers are strictly limited to those enumerated in the constitution and that our rights are reestablished, reaffirmed, re-secured and safeguarded. We must restore and reestablish the sovereignty of the people and the states and restore the constitutional balances between the central government, the various states and we the people. The constitution severely restricts government powers and guarantees unalienable freedom and Liberty to the people.

As we restore constitutionally limited government several wrongs must be righted:

The central government has illegally expanded its powers. They've done this by ignoring or stretching their constitutional limits. They have usurped powers limited to the states and the people. We must reestablish and reaffirm the enumerated powers and limit the central government strictly to just those powers. They've built huge power bases by allowing senators and representatives to be full time professional career positions. We eliminate this by establishing strict qualifications for office and term limits.

We must reestablish and reaffirm the powers to the states and the people as defined by the 9th and 10th amendments.

The central government has denied the states their constitutionally guaranteed republican form of government by introducing the 17th amendment which alters the way the senators which were to represent the sovereign interests of the various states to the central government. We must reestablish that representation by repealing the 17th amendment and allowing the state legislatures of the various states to elect their own senators as intended by our founders. This was never intended to be a function of the people. We the People are represented to the central government by our elected representatives in the House of Representatives. The sovereign states were to be represented by the state's senators to keep central powers and encroachment in check. Power is from the people to the states, and from the states to the central government. They've turned this upside down and inside out. We must correct it.

We hereby repeal the 17th amendment.

The central government has expanded well beyond the limits established for it by the founders and pay for that expansion by directly taxing the people and severely restricting our rights through an enslaving income tax.

We hereby repeal the 16th amendment.

The IRS and all sub departments and agencies are hereby dissolved, disbanded and closed.

The newly elected congress will establish rules and schedules for assessing and collecting fees, tariffs and excise taxes to support the armed forces and all constitutionally authorized departments of The United States Government per the Constitution of the United States (see schedule).

The central government is hereby stripped of all illegal powers and all departments and agencies not authorized by the constitution are hereby dissolved and disbanded. Their current budgets are hereby withdrawn. All disbanded department funds and liquid assets are to be immediately returned to the US Treasury. A list and methods for achieving this is provided in schedule xxx.

Ownership and responsibility for all federally held buildings, lands, parks, waterways, oceans, seas, etc, other than those in Washington, D.C. or military bases, forts, reservations, or local federal buildings owned by valid constitutional federal departments (see schedule) are hereby transferred to the sovereign state governments within which they reside or are located.

Responsibility for all natural resources found within any of the various states or within lands, oceans, lakes, rivers, waterways, seas out through our international boundary limits are hereby returned to the various states. All laws for mining, drilling, logging, or otherwise capitalizing on any minerals or natural resources are to be determined by the various states within which said resources are found.

The social security system is hereby dissolved, disbanded and closed. All social security funds being held by the federal government are to be returned to the private retirement accounts of the individuals owning them. A special fund will be establish for all current recipients and new recipients according to schedule xxy and the social security system shall be phased out accordingly. The funds to support current social security benefits shall become the responsibility of the states within which the recipients reside.

No revenues accruing to the federal government shall be disbursed to any state, city or local government for any reason whatsoever. Or used to subsidize or benefit any government or private entity, organization or person, other than those explicitly authorized and enumerated in the constitution.

All states are hereby solely responsible for any and all revenues or funds required to operate their sovereign states. The central government is not obligated to and shall not interfere in state government or local affairs.

The interstate commerce clause shall be applied strictly to regulating interstate commerce as originally established and intended by our founders. No stretches or reinterpretations of any kind shall be allowed.

Our first unalienable right is the right to life. Protecting Life and Liberty shall be of paramount importance to our central government. Roe v Wade and all congressional acts, regulations, court opinions allowing legalized abortion or the taking of innocent human life are hereby rescinded, overruled, repealed, nullified and voided. Life is fully protected by the U.S. Government.

The Federal Reserve.

Border security.

Medicare.

FAA, FDA, FCC, various federal ABC departments agencies and agencies. Which to close, which to remake with constitutional limits and authority, etc.

Federal Pensions.

Etc, etc, etc.

Need lots of help with this document, folks. Please chime in. Would love to see a committee formed of members of every state to complete and finalize it. Then we should form and send delegates to a special national congress to work out the kinks and plan its presentation and execution.

This concept is an entirely peaceful altering of our despotic government per our unalienable right and duty. No where do I call for violence. The only force I call for is the force of numbers. We need millions of our citizens to sign on to this petition and execute its provisions. Will require millions to march on D.C. to block the government's ability to do business as usual. This is our right and duty as Americans.

False dichotomy. The unwise and unwarranted call for extra-ordinary measures, rebellion, hints of violence, etc. is not the only alternative to doing nothing. What absurdity.We have so many better peaceful and democratic alternatives.

What if THIS was advocated instead in a peaceful 9/12 protest ...
WE CALL ON THE DEFEAT IN THE NEXT ELECTION OF EVERY SINGLE ADVOCATE FOR BAILOUTS, TRILLION DOLLAR DEFICITS, TRILLION DOLLAR BOONDOGGLES, TRILLION DOLLAR ADDITIONAL TAXES, GOVERNMENT TAKEOVER OF HEALTHCARE AND CAP-AND-TAX REGULATION OF ENERGY.

What if also it was adovcated ...
SITINS AT THE OFFICES OF ANY OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED CONGRESSCRITTERS.
... shutting down their offices. Going to the Congressional gallery. Publicly rebuking those who advocate socializing the economy.

What if in 2010 EVERY SINGLE ONE of the 218 Congresscritters who voted for cap & trade EVERY SINGLE ONE of the Congresscritters who voted for Obama’s 2 trillion deficit budget and ‘stimulus’ was defeated in 2010? Swept out of office?

*That* would be the revolution in Congress that is really needed. Every election is a democratic revolution. Democracy works. Focus on the REAL task of winning the election and, no, we wont have to ‘wait in line for rationed health care!’

Exactly, I would be happy to attend a peacefull 9/12 protest like you are suggesting. However, I could not be a part of the more radical protest that some here were advocating.

Obama/Eric Holder has given the green light to the New Black Panthers Party to apply muscle and intimidation at voting places. I envision them and Acorn doing just that in many voting place locations in 2010. What can we do to have muscle representation at voting places to protect voters and keep the voting places free of fraud and thugs? Can the police be stationed at voting places in high crime areas/heavy democratic vote areas....do we need to guard the voting places ourselves(be equipped and ready to act), or hire people to do so? WHAT CAN WE DO..WHAT CAN BE DONE?

All that’s needed is someone with organizing capabilities to pull it together. And, discrediting one national politician on videotape by asking them questions they can’t answer will have a far greater impact than any marches.”

On the other hand, I AM optimistic although it will take at least until the next election cycle and/or damages can be assessed due to Cap&Tax, TARP and HealthCare and other legislations when lawsuits can ensue in hope of repealing the ravages of current Socialistic operations...and beyond.

The first order of business is to build on the TEA Party movement. The people are pissed at BOTH political parties for leading us down the road to socialism and tyranny and they’re protesting against it. People of every political stripe, station, and persuasion. People who have never protested before. Men, women, housewives, little ol’ grand mothers, teens, children, professionals, working class, mechanics, plumbers, you name it. They are ANGRY and ready to roll some heads!

Continue building on that momentum. Continue the marches in every state, every city, ever state capitol and on Washington, D.C. itself.

We need massive marches! We need to wake up the sleeping masses of the silent majority! Wake up and get the attention of the press! And scare the PISS out of the political ruling class that delights in lording it over us!!

September’s march is just one of the first. There will be many more and they will be massive! Unless I miss my guess, change is coming!!

America and Americans will throw off her tyrants and throw off their chains and fight for Liberty! Always have. Always will. It’s in our blood.

P.S. Heads will roll is a tad on the rhetorical side, but just a tad.

I’m from the ‘other side of the tracks’ and I can tell you these are confidence men/women who bask in your passivity.

If someone is peppering me with jabs, right-hooks, and straight rights, I’m going to fire back with all I’ve got.

This waiting around for those oh-so manly Republican politicians to fight for us is just begging the hard-left to take our paychecks and our freedom.

I, for one, won’t do it.

I’m fighting now, have been fighting for some time, and will continue to fight them.

We musn’t do anything like this, only the left can do this.

We are ‘above’ all of this, see.

When they land their clubs up side your head you must retreat to the ER, then, after treatment for a fractured skull, you must return to your home, turn on Fox News and wait quietly for the next election.

You must not defend yourself in any way that might appear aggressive, or even confrontational.

Remember, we are far too enlightened, far too well bred, and far too conservative to put up a fight.

Follow the rules, Republicans even when the other team is beating your head into a smoothie.

Just wait for your opportunity to cast your oh-so powerful vote and effect change the natural, proper, conservative way.

It’s so much easier, and even those pesky Democrats will appreciate your following our sacred rules.

Absolutely. There is no constitutional provision for funding the U.N. or any other international political organization. No domestic ones either. We draw the U.S. Treasury’s purse strings up tight!

It’s not a slush fund for politicians or do gooders.

We fund only the military, the congress, the courts and those sub departments actually enumerated and authorized by the U.S. Constitution.

No entitlements. No welfare. No transfer payments. No subsidies. No feel good or do good projects of any kind. No arts, no education, no welfare, no health, no environment, no science, no space, nothing. Nothing that is not expressly authorized.

Anything not expressly enumerated and authorized in the constitution as a power for the central government is reserved to the states and the people.

I see nothing ambivalent or difficult to understand about that.

If the people decide to fund the U.N. or health, education, welfare, science, the arts, the environment or any other social cause, all they need to do is pass and duly ratify a constitutional amendment authorizing it. Not a single penny will be spent from the U.S. Treasury until that is accomplished.

A miliion or more march would be DEVASTATING PR for the agenda of the Kenyan admin...just showing up, let alone with a plan or actions following.

What's even better is if the 9/12 marchers STAY a few days and camp out at Congress-critters offices, and take over the buildings. A 'sit-down' at the Congress, where you physically TAKE IT OVER, is a tactic the 1960s students used to good effect. Call it "The People's Filibuster": People come in, invade Congressional hearings, Congressional chambers, offices and PREVENT ANY REAL WORK from happening.

NOW ... if you add a protest AT THE NEWS MEDIA HQs ... then the national media will have a hard time ignoring it.

I second the enhanced Tea Party idea... The Tea Party organizers have done a good job. Rally the troops, get the Tea Party organizers involved - State and Regional delegations so to speak.

We can have a big rally on 9/12 (hopefully a million strong) and we could set a minimum goal of Freezing Congress in Place. Huge numbers - many speakers, chanting and stomping - then move to Ghandi like Non Violent Civil Disobedience - obstruction of traffic ways, entrances to public buildings, etc. And all the while be prepared for reaction from ACORN Brown Shirts and other Leftist Goons...

First Goal - at a minimum ...

Really Intimidate Members of the House and Senate - the sheer numbers of protesters could do that... the crowd could distribute phone numbers of each Member of the House and Senate.. Then we all place calls to them while demonstrating.

Use the power of cell phones - protesters call dozens of friends and have them fax, call and email the members of Congress AND The News Media. Stage the old 60’s Street Theater - acting out the transgressions our Congress has mired themselves in.

Intimidation of Congress will rob Obama of the ability to shove more insane legislation down our throats.

This will buy time and gain respect and attention. We’ll gain time for planning and pulling off the next - even bigger protest in Spring 2010 - where stronger actions that have been suggested in these many posts can be acted out.

After my sixth pass, I'm left feeling that the only avenue to successful (and peaceful) change, reformation, and reduction of the current system of government will only be possible within the framework of the system in place today.

Not only is it possible - it is PROBABLE that if we all focussed 100% on a 2010 Agenda for Return of Constitutional Government in the next election, advocating STRONGLY to turn out of office the scoundrels who are legislating this country down the slipper y slope to third-world socialism, that we WILL create a massive "Revolution" that would would be a bigger earthquake than 1994 or 1980 for the conservative movement. We could see massive losses by liberal Democrat socialist weasels at the state, local and federal level, sending shock waves through the system. The reason why it would be bigger is that it would be powered by millions from the ground up and not a few from the top down.

I think you and anyone else who thinks that peaceful change can happen in this country from this point forward is absolutely kidding yourself.

We've had peaceful change for most of our history. At least since 1865, we've managed peaceful change at the Federal level.

To assert that we cannot take our country back via the ballot box is to assert a wrongful disdain for the patriotism and love of freedom of the American people. The people were bamboozled, but they do NOT support socialism. The current occupier of the White House is not 'illegal' but a follower of the Alinsky way. "He ain't leaving peacefully" - he will when we defeat him massively in the next elections.
