Texas could certainly use some coal fired plants. Electrical rates here are among the very highest in the nation often running over $0.13/kwh, they are an absolute joke for an energy producing state. And it’s because the greens have so far succeeded in stopping any coal fired plants. They’re fully twice as high as I was formerly paying in Kansas from coal and nuke.
There are things about Perry I don’t like, but pushing coal is a great idea.

By the way, I just locked in for a year at 10 cents. But I would look for electricity prices to drop even further as natural gas is headed south for the near term. Have you tried www.powertochoose.org?
I have no problem with coal plants, but I was a little alarmed that they wanted to build so many in such a limited area.
They wanted to build something like 6 plants or something in a circle around waco, needless to say that didn’t go over too well with the locals.
