The reason Sarah Palin resigned her post as Governor of Alaska is really no mystery. And yet we must make it one. A person can never be taken at her word. What did she mean by a higher calling? Shes looking for a way to make money. It must be a huge book deal. But wait, she already has a book deal.
She must be getting a talk show on FOX but FOX has said there is nothing in the works. Then NBC? Maybe taking Katie Courics place on CBS? Now thats a great idea. Or maybe theres a grand secret strategy to take the White House in 2012. Its a brilliant strategy. Its a ridiculous strategy. Its risky its smart. There has to be more to this. Whats the angle? How can we read further between the lines? Whats in this for her?
She is a coward a quitter. Shes crazy like a fox. She is laying the groundwork for a new political movement. If she cant take the heat, she should get out of the kitchenand on it goes, from both sides, ad nauseam.
But maybe there is a logical explanation after all with no mystery involved. Governor Sarah Palin said the following: She is a no-frills governor who wants to get the job done. All the investigations launched, which by the way, have been proven false and have cost the Alaskan taxpayers over two million dollars to respond to the flood of accusations and FOIA requests. Today, most of her time and her staffs time is spent responding to the constant barrage of criticism and attacksand the work for the people of Alaska is being neglected.
Based on that alone, she is passing the ball, as the good basketball guard she once was, so that the team, the conservative movement can win. She wants to keep her focus on what really matters, help the people of Alaska continue on a path of good government, and stop facilitating the time and life-takers of the left.
She said it was difficult. She said it was painful. That doesnt sound like someone who wants to quit. She said her recent visit to the troops was the clincher, referencing their sacrifice and reiterating the theme of remembering what really matters. She was alluding to her own need to step down when she personally didnt want to, I believe, feeling it was her duty as a statesman and as a duly elected servant of the people of Alaska.
But the higher calling? I dont think its a book deal or a talk show or a new political movement. I believe its the heart of a mother who cant bear to see her children brutalized by a cannibalizing, angry opposition.
What person in public life has ever had her children and family so maligned and attacked so brutally, explicitly and disrespectfully?
Was it Jimmy Carter with his strange little Amy? Or Lyndon B. Johnson with his Bird girls? Or Nixon or Ford or Reagan? Ron Reagan Jr. contributed to his own ridiculousness by appearing in his tighty whities in a parody of Tom Cruise. Jenna and Barbara Bush got a little burnt by reports of underage drinking, but that was quickly stifled. Cindy McCain was trashed for her pain-killer addiction and Teresa Carey for her weird campaign remarks. Barack Obama issued a stern warning to anyone who would ridicule Michelle for her declared shame over the country, but (rightly) not a word was said about his precious girls. Wives and husbands active on the campaign trail are fair game, but not children. Thats the way it has always been and thats the way it should remain.
Too bad the door was opened wide for debasement, and ridicule, and gutter humor for not just one of Sarah Palins children, but for at least three of them. Within days of her selection, Trig was not her baby, but her teenage daughters. Then the gleeful news, that Bristol was, in fact, pregnant and unmarried. Throw in a tasteless remark on SNL about Todd committing incest with his girlsthings that should not be spoken, much less joked, about have become the norm for the vermin class who hate anyone who loves and tries to represent healthy, whole families.
When the search for sexual indiscretions, pictures, photos, came up short on Palin, she was mocked for her beauty, her voice, her sense of humor and alleged lack of knowledge of public policy. Her interviews were edited, the interviewers powered up to make her look foolish, her McCain handlers became her worst enemies the people she trusted stabbed her in the back.
But the children David Letterman described Governor Sarah Palin, the ultimate beautiful lady, mother of five, grandmother of one, wife of a man who loves her dearly, dressing like a slutty flight attendant. But to go yet lower, joked about her 14-year-old daughter being knocked up by Alex Rodriguez at a Mets Game. His apology was that he thought it was the 18-year-old daughter, the young single mom, and not the younger. Only a sick mind could tell the difference.
And then the mockery of Trig, baby Trig Down syndrome Trig. Altering his photo blogging inexpressibly profane remarks about his birth and leaving them on the Web site for over week, despite complaints. Perhaps this was the last straw.
I think much of it [her familys counsel to step down] had to do with the kids seeing their baby brother mocked by some pretty mean-spirited adults recently, Palin explained in her resignation speech. By the way, sure wish folks could ever, ever understand that we all learn so much from someone like TrigI know he needs me, but I need him even more what a child can offer to set priorities rightthat time is precious the world needs more Trigs, not fewer, she said.
Its no mystery why Sarah Palin stepped down now to stop the waste of time and money for the Alaskan people and to quench the infliction of pain on her family. If the love of the governor for her state and the mother for her children causes her to step down and become a quitter, then may her kind of quitting increase.

Those on the left cannot accept that she is what she says she is. They are so busy hiding their pasts that they just assume everyone else has to do it. I’ve said this before here, but it remains true. The left has vetted Sara Palin more deeply than any candidate for any office ever has been. Folks she is what she is. And that’s a damn good woman.
If Mr. Obama had been vetted 1% as much as Governor Palin, he’d be herding his tribe’s goats in Kenya while Michelle decorated their mud daub hut with old discarded Coca-Cola cases and empty flattened tin cans, and the girls fetched water and fed the chickens.
Vet, nothing, I say again, nothing will change until us Constitutionalists become civil disobedience activists. Chanting and signs have done no good. It is time to take it to a new level. Thanks for serving.
If only 1% of our citizens marched on Washington, he’d be on a plane to Kenya before he knew what hit him. Until then, they scoff at us, and rightly so.
But look how good Michelle is at gardening! They could open a roadside farm market in Venezuela. -3bama probably would love some home grown.
Sarah did not step down just to stop the attacks on her family. Sarah is stepping down to go on the offensive.
How would the media treat Michelle if she was the hunter and governor?
Yeah, I know.....
I fully am aware that this pol was the victim of a 110% effort by the US media to destroy her.
That said, pols don’t resign. The only times I can recall ambitious pols resigning is under circumstances so questionable that it isn’t hard to connect possible dots.
Trent Lott resigning just before dickie scrugg’s indictment is the most recent example of this I recall. My speculative guess (being from jackson) is that the feds had him on tape in some context, even if just talking about judges or something. his brother-in-law was about to be busted for bribing a judge, and presumably bribed others. His bagman is still free as far as I know, despite a spectacular payoff arrangement.
Palin is by far the most articulate and charismatic GOP candidate to appear in a generation. Her resignation is not likely to be an act of voluntary martyrdom or sainthood, and is much more likely to be a pragmatic decision in the face of facts none of us have.
It's much more likely to be the only way for her to step forward nationally, because she'll have to run the most unconventional campaign ever. She needs networks, exposure and money. Lot's of that. She can't have that sitting tied to her governor's chair in far-off Alaska.
Until proven otherwise I am willing to take her at her word.
She will run an asymmetrical campaign, going around them just like her resignation is like going around a 6'3" forward on the basketball court which I am sure she did.
We will saddle up and help via email, twitter, tea party networks etc. to help is the question.
The Million dollar question is this Campaign with or against the GOP, my guess is the latter.
I have a couple who are friends following her facebook and writings and they are very intelligent and are called to tell me they think I am spot on, they agree with me that she will form a new party filed with conservatives and everyone else sick of the GOP and lack of common sense.
They hate Palin because she can not be bribed or manipulated. The country has many many women like Palin and men as well. They fear Palin because they fear that the many folks like Palin will be aroused and kick the corrupt DEMPUBs out!
Sarah is going to re-appear in the lower 48 and it is going to take their breath away.
The last paragraph says it all.
Sarah has before and not for the reasons you've expressed.
“What did she mean by a higher calling? Shes looking for a way to make money.”
I can respect that. If she was a Democrat, she could have just sold the powers of her office, with the blessing of the MSM, of course.
DING! DING! DING!
WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!
NO MORE CALLS,PLEASE!!!!
Gov. Palin has not been taken down. She is adjusting her game. She will be so much freer as a “free agent” then if she remained Alaska’s governor.
The left and the RINOs who facilitate it are right to fear her. Their agendas are built on houses of cards. A plain speaker who is beholden to no one can advance simple arguments that will destroy these people sooner than later. They know it and are aggressively trying to stifle her before she can get off the ground.
The dirt bags who would use a Down’s Syndrome baby as a foil need to be shown up for who they truly are. Hateful idiologues who will destroy anything to attain power.
If she is the fighter I think she is, her response to the attacks on her family and children will be to get even—not quit.
