Climate-change bill not so popular among North Texas representatives
Fort Worth Star-Telegram ^ | Friday, Jun 26, 2009 | ANNA M. TINSLEY

Several members of the North Texas congressional delegation plan a fierce fight against the climate change bill scheduled to go before the House today, saying it will hurt the economy...

Rep. Chet Edwards, D-Waco, whose district includes Johnson and Hood counties, lauds the effort to address global warming but doesn’t know how he’ll vote "until he has reviewed the impact the bill would have on families’ utility bills and gasoline costs."

Republicans such as Burgess and Reps. Kay Granger of Fort Worth and Joe Barton of Arlington are strongly opposed.

Chet Edwards runs like a conservative and votes like a liberal. He's trying to sound conservative for the folks back home, but I bet he votes for the monstrosity. If Pelosi can't get Edwards vote then the bill really is in trouble.

“until he has reviewed the impact the bill would have on families’ utility bills and gasoline costs.”

Or until his earmark payoffs reach a significant level.

So what happens to the stock market if cap and tax passes and is signed into law?

The ranking Republican on the House Energy and Commerce Committee coined a new acronym for the plan: CRAP (continue ruining America’s prosperity).

a good description of most if not all of the Obama/Democrat agenda.

Climate-change bill not so popular among North Texas representatives

I bet... LOL...

It’s one thing to gripe and complain about these things and disagree with it, but it’s quite *another* to convince your friends and neighbors and relatives and coworkers...

THEREFORE..., it’s also absolutely necessary for people to know the information in the following documentary. If there were simply *one* video that you could see and/or show people you know... this would be the *one*...

The following is an *excellent* video documentary on the so-called “Global Warming” I would recommend it to all FReepers. It’s a very well-made documentary.

“The Great Global Warming Swindle”

If you want to download it, via a BitTorrent site (using a BitTorrent client), you can get it at the following link.
http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/3635222/The_Great_Global_Warming_Swindle
[this is a high-quality copy, of about a gigabyte in size...]

It’s worth seeing and having for relatives, friends, neighbors and coworkers to see.

Also, see it online here...

[this one is considerably lower quality, is a flash video and viewable online, of course...]

Buy it here...

[this one would be the very highest quality version, on a DVD disk, of several gigabytes in size...]

Also, in split parts on YouTube...

Report about 30 minutes ago, Bill pulled from the floor. Legosi says they will work through weekend to twist enough arms to get it passed.

That's a good sign. She doesn't think the votes are there. Time is really on OUR side, not hers.

I am speculating now, but. . . I think this is face saving time. The lefties are going to use this weekend as "evidence" they did everything they could to pass it, while the moderate dems will use it as their "evidence" that after hearing from constituents they just could not support it even though "something needs to be done".

Then the hard left PACs can whine about how they need a bigger majority and less DINOS. And those in power can keep an issue alive and be perceived as doing all they could.

Typical Washington BS. But a dangerous game of chicken with the future of our nation on the line for sure.

Just another Dirty Dog Democrat. The only way this dog votes against this is if master Pelosi gets enough RINO’s to vote for it to cover for the fake conservative democrats.

You said — Report about 30 minutes ago, Bill pulled from the floor. Legosi says they will work through weekend to twist enough arms to get it passed.

Well that’s a bit of good news. Keep up the pressure...

Report is wrong. They are debating it right now on C-SPAN.

Keep calling people.

I got this from Club for Growth yesterday:

Please call your representative today and urge them to vote NO on the Waxman-Markey energy tax bill. You can reach them by dialing the Capitol Hill switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and asking for your representative. If you have time, please consider calling these House members as well (especially if they are in your state). They are Republicans believed to be undecided and facing intense pressure from environmental activists to support the bill.

Top Ten Undecided Republicans:

Vern Buchanan (FL-13): 202-225-5015
Ginny Brown-Waite (FL-05): 202-225-1002
Joseph Cao (LA-02): 202-225-6636
Vern Ehlers (MI-03): 202-225-3831
Rodney Frelinghuysen (NJ-11): 202-225-5034
Jim Gerlach (PA-06): 202-225-4315
Tim Johnson (IL-15): 202-225-2371
Mark Kirk (IL-10): 202-225-4835
Chris Smith (NJ-04): 202-225-3765
Jeff Fortenberry (NE-01): 202-225-4806

If you’d like to reach out even further, below is a list of Democratic representatives believed to be undecided:

Jason Altmire (D-PA-04)
Bobby Bright (D-AL-02)
Frank Kratovil (D-MD-01)
Walt Minnick (D-ID-01)
Frank Kratovil (D-MD-01)
Chet Edwards (D-TX-17)
Brad Ellsworth (D-IN-08)
John Boccieri (D-OH-16)
Travis Childers (D-MS-01)
Kathy Dahlkemper (D-PA-03)
Mark Schauer (D-MI-07)
Gary Peters (D-MI-09)
Larry Kissell (D-NC-08)
Lincoln Davis (D-TN-04)
Chris Carney (D-PA-10)
Steve Driehaus (D-OH-01)
Harry Teague (D-NM-02)
Joe Donnelly (D-IN-02)
Ciro Rodriquez (D-TX-23)
Harry Mitchell (D-AZ-05)
Betsy Markey (D-CO-04)
Alan Grayson (D-FL-08)

Gene Green, the 29th district Houston rep, is pimping for this bill. I used to think he wasn’t too bad.

It’s a stab in the back of Houston, “the energy capital of the world”.

If he does vote for it, I will do everything in my power to get him de-elected. Of course I will do the same for my own racist-communist rep, Sheila Jackson-Lee.
