The current virus mixes an existing triple combination of human, avian and swine influenza identified in 1998 with two new swine virus genes from Asia and Europe, both of human origin.
They're too busy being in love of B. Zerobama to notice anything so mundane as H1N1 killing people.
One possible reason was that everyone over-reacted the first time, and then there was backlash and everyone said it was nothing. The press doesn't want to risk looking foolish.
Another possible reason was that Obama ordered the press to play it up big as a way to get the Senate to quickly confirm abortion extremist Kathleen Sebelius, who had lied about how much Killer Tiller paid her, so she could deal with the "crisis." That caused the Republicans to cave and drop any attempt at a filibuster.
I remember the hullabaloo in the SRM about the bird flu and how that total idiot, bushchimpyhitlerfascist didn’t have us adequately prepared. Yet, I don’t believe anyone in the US contracted the bird flu.
Remember, BO is totally smart and can do no wrong for the SRM.
I admit, the whole thing seems weird, but then these viruses mutate all the time as leaps frog from person to person, it could be that we’ve just never seen a straing morph into a major killer before our eyes like the this, we have such instant reporting today this might be how these always happen.
I have children and would hate to think of one complaigning about a stomach ache and only a mere hours die from it, that is a very frightening thing. If you think the hospitals were swamped a few months ago wait until the MSM starts covering these stories each night.

Did I miss something? I've only heard about maybe 3 or 4 deaths in the US, and in each, there was an underlying medical condition. Even this article says,

If people are indeed dropping like flies, there seems to be a total coverup. And MA at least is still trying to keep up the drumbeat -- another school closure for a week because of absenteeism, e.g.

Seven more deaths in New York City have been linked to swine flu, bringing the total to 30.
The Health Department did not make a formal announcement but quietly updated the numbers on its Web site Friday.
The city has refused to release details about swine flu deaths,and would only say that victims ranged in age from 25 to 64.
The number of confirmed New York City cases also rose to 1,083, with 803 hospitalizations. Officials believe many more have had swine flu because the city does not test everyone who has mild symptoms.

Could you ever have imagined such a thing? No wonder her family and friends are in shock.

“Everybody is just in a shock. The people that I talked to today, they are frightened. Because it happened all of a sudden,” Josephine Davis said.
More than 1,800 people have caught swine flu in Milwaukee alone. The city’s Health Department is stressing that if you are mildly ill with flu symptoms, you should call your doctor. If your symptoms are serious or if you have mild symptoms that are getting worse, you should see a doctor right away.

There are many more reports of previous healthy people dieing from the H1N1 Flu . The next town over from me a healthy person died . The state of Utah said on it’s website they won’t report on any swine flu deaths .
This woman should have lived .

Third Utahns dies of swine flu

SALT LAKE CITY — A third Salt Lake Valley resident has died from complications of the swine flu.
Craig Whitehead says his sister, Franice Rushton, 47, got sick after his mom was diagnosed with type-A flu.
Rushton initially tested negative for the flu, but continued to feel worse.
They took her to the doctor and Jordan Valley Hospital, where they found she was suffering from pneumonia and her kidneys were beginning to fail.
Whitehead says she eventually ended up at Intermountain Medical Center, where she got a positive test for the swine flu. He says by that time the flu had gone untreated for too long, and she died Saturday.
Whitehead says he wanted to get the word out so that people would not become complacent.
The Salt Lake Valley Health Department confirmed the death.

Our family would like to express thanks to the Shock and Trauma unit at IMCH. And to those who have prayed and supported our family over the past 2 weeks.
Francine and her mother became ill with the flu two weeks ago today. Her mother tested positive and was treated for the flu and has since recovered. Francine tested negative and was sent home. Her health continued to decline, and three days later she was taken to Jordan Valley Hospital. For the second time she tested negative, was sent home, and told to increase fluids and rest.
We begged the doctors to treat her with Tama flu because it had helped her mother, but they refused because her test had come back negative. After another three days she became incapacitated, and was again taken to Jordan Valley where she was admitted and found to have pneumonia, plus all of the symptoms associated with the flu, but once again tested negative. At this point she had had the flu for approximately eight days, untreated. Her condition continued to decline, and on Tuesday was transferred to IMC Hospital. By this time her body was so ravaged from the virus that her kidneys and lungs started to fail and brain activity had diminished. On Wednesday, June 10 we received a positive Type-A flu test, and on Thursday we received, from the CDC, a positive test for H1N1, Swine Flu.
After fighting a valiant battle she succumbed to this illness. It has been reported that she had underlying illnesses that contributed to her death, but according to her doctors she died from lung damage, kidney failure, and brain damage which were all strong and healthy prior to contracting the virus.

Oregon’s second swine flu death confirmed: a young Marion County child

Oregon health authorities have confirmed the state’s second known death — in a young Marion County child — from the new H1N1 influenza virus, also known as swine flu.
The child, identified only as “younger than 5 years old,” died June 15, and infection with the swine flu virus was confirmed by the Oregon State Public Health Laboratory Tuesday. The child had “no known underlying medical conditions and a two-day history of fever,” and was not hospitalized, officials said.
There have been some deaths in CNY from swine flu. I saw the article just recently but can’t find it now.
Considering the number of people who are supposed to have been in fine shape just dying so suddenly, dropping like flies, isn’t such a bad analogy.

When Matthew Davis was feeling ill at home just days before died, he asked his mom, ‘what is wrong with me, am I going to die,” recalled Lucretia Belton.
Belton is the mother of Davis. The 15-year old boy was scheduled to graduate from eighth grade at Harvey Austin School #97 in Buffalo on Wednesday. Instead the family will be attending his wake at Amigone Funeral Home in Buffalo.
Davis, according to his mother was healthy. “There was nothing wrong with my baby, no cold, not even a sniff,” said Belton.
In an interview with 2 On Your Side’s Claudine Ewing, the grieving mother explained how fast her son became ill. It was one week from the day Matthew started feeling that he died.
Students, teachers and community members are mourning the teen’s death.
Flags there are at half staff and a sign in front of the school says — “Our hearts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of Matthew Davis.”
Over the weekend, a spokesman for the Erie County Health Department confirmed a death associated with swine flu.
Buffalo Teachers’ Federation President Phil Rumore said it’s his understanding that the 15-year-old’s health was further compromised by an underlying MRSA infection.
Belton says doctors told her as a result of the swine flu her son contracted MRSA and pneumonia.
“I’m not coping. I want my baby. can they give me my baby back. I’m a mess,” said Belton about the death of her son.
She wishes the school was closed when the teacher was diagnosed with swine flu. It is not known how Matthew Davis was infected. She has an older son who attends Riverside High School, but he was never ill, although district officials closed that school to deal with the swine flu in the building.
Buffalo Schools Superintendent Dr. James Williams says grief counselors are on hand today.
Only a small number of students are required to report to school to take final exams.
A second Buffalo student - who attends the Charles R. Drew Science Magnet School #59 Museum Campus, remains hospitalized with Swine Flu. The child, a female, is listed in critical condition in the Pediatric Intensive Care unit at Women and Children’s Hospital.
People apparently "in fine shape" die all the time. Every year there seem to be at least one or two student athletes or cheerleaders, etc. who keel over.
Yes, I heard about that; the thing is, a few days later it was quietly reported (I saw it on Fox 25) that she did indeed have an underlying condition (nature unspecified). Initial reports that don't mention an underlying condition may only mean that the person wasn't being treated for anything. I believe there was a student athlete last year or the year before who died suddenly and it turned out he had a previously unrecognized congenital heart defect. A friend's husband dropped dead of one, about a week after a thorough physical that never spotted it.
Such underlying conditions can apparently only be discovered through an autopsy.
I don't know if you have any medical background or not, but what would you do with a 6 year old that presented with a slight fever and intermittent muscle pain? Most doctors here in the US would do exactly the same thing as this doctor, given that this little girl did not present with flu symptoms. Kids get viruses all the time. There is nothing a doctor can do but treat the symptoms. For her symptoms, Advil would have been the remedy of most physicians. There really isn't enough information to determine why this little girl died. Maybe we should find out what happened before assigning blame with the doctors?
Well times change. Right now doctors need to err on the side of caution. I took my son in yesterday with a fever, he tested positive for swine flu. Now on tamiflu as the whole house is. It was difficult to find it and it’s expensive $600.
