Actually....as a "representative" of the people of his state....it is their business. And as a person that has dipped his toe into National Politics...it becomes our business also.
Like it or not....that is what comes with running for public office.

I agree with you but would like to expound on your point. Extramarital sex is nothing new, you can see that personally and quit often in family histories, it has ripped many families apart, that is the harm and the “sin”.
Duty and honor affects colleges and constituents more directly but it all reflects on the character of the person, their ability to doing their job but also if they subject to “pressure” because of their secrets. That is why clearances and vetting are so important.
I don’t know how Governors Sanford’s “outing” came about, we may never know, but I would suspect (looking at it now) that it was known and he refused to submit to pressure (which I would respect) or his outing was more important that what could be gained (not so much respect). I think the latter was the case with Newt Gingrich. These issues need to be dealt with reasonably and based on factual information. It that had been the case there would have been one tread with 50-100 replies which would have covered what was known.
It got worse, it has just come out in an article that he let his staff think he was going hiking so that is the word the put out. Also said his wife kicked him out two weeks ago.
It is definitely our business when he was mentioned as a candidate in 2012 and if I lived in SC, I would be furious at him.
