Looks like where there was smoke there was fire and NOW I do condemn him for having an affair with a woman from Agentina and leaving the state with not telling anyone.

Before I wanted to know why he left the State without telling anyone including his wife and now we know. Doesn’t look like the media’s fault to me and never did. He left the door wide open.

Are some of you now ready to say his political career is over? I think it is a shame because I agreed with what he was doing. There was just something about this that didn’t fit and now he has spoken. Shame on him — couldn’t he wait until he was no longer Governor?

i won’t even condemn him now, because whether it was because he was up to shenanigans or because he was a political naif, he was clearly not attentive to how it LOOKED to the voting populace, and as a pragmatist, that is not a good thing in a politician. i feel bad for his wife and family and wish that rather than continuing to attack, the ad hominem hurlers here could at least give some of us credit for being just a bit savvier than they were in looking at a politician, conservative or not. far too many clay feet out there to rise up in hysterical defense of someone who laid himself open to suspicion by his own behavior.

what I saw in his press conference is a man torn and in a lot of pain; he may have ended the affair this weekend, but in his heart I don’t think he ended it, looks to me like he was/is in love with a woman who is not his wife... if this was France or Italy it would be acceptable...here it means his career is over. BTW he was on Hannity last week and pretty much indicated when his term as governor was over he wanted to just fade away. Hannity didn’t act like he believed it, but I think (now) the body language at the time was an unhappy man.

“Looks like where there was smoke there was fire”

But it could have been dust, fog or clouds.

“Are some of you now ready to say his political career is over”

That is entirely up to him, he could rise from the ashes like Jimmy Swaggart. I will say this, we will see as never before exactly what he is made of, how we handle adversity (even if we generate it) defines who we are.
