Guess Who Wishes Bush Was Back
Washington Post ^ | June 21, 2009 | David S. Broder

Posted on 06/22/2009 8:49:25 AM PDT by RobinMasters

In a conversation the other day with a White House official, I heard something I'd never expected from an employee of Barack Obama's. "I wish," he said, "George Bush would speak up a little more."

In the five months since he left the presidency, Bush has immersed himself in his memoir. He has stayed home in Texas and rarely spoken publicly. The result has been that he has largely disappeared from the news and -- the point the Obama aide was making -- pretty much has been forgotten.

Bush's silence has made it harder for Obama to keep the public focused on Bush as being responsible for our present difficulties -- the weak economy, the unsettled wars, the scandals of Guantanamo and the detainee program.

David Broder's column contains the unsurprising news that some of Obama's aides wish they could just keep running the 2008 campaign over and over again for four years.

"I wish," he said, "George Bush would speak up a little more."

Of course they do. That way the media can go ballistic about Bush speaking and in turn, give Lord Zero cover.

Please, W, let Obama twist in the wind all by his lonesome. At some point, enough people are going to understand that being able to read a speech in a sonorous voice is not a sufficient condition for being a leader.

President Bush certainly has not been forgotten over at DU. Almost every discussion still involves someone expressing manifestations of BDS.

Hey dems: "You won"... as your President reminds us at every turn. What's the matter, still not happy?

Bush is taking the high road that former Republican Presidents take - they don’t criticize their successors. Of course, failures like Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton never shut up after they left office.

The public is getting tired of “it’s all Bush’s fault” coming out of the Boy King’s mouth. Bush never publicly blamed the Clintons and Jamie Gorelick for the Wall, which worked to the benefit of the 9/11 terrorists, or the crap economy HE inherited after the dot.com bust in the late 90’s. Besides, Bambi knew what state the country was in - he had a “PLAN” remember. The fact that the plan was stupid and destined for failure isn’t his predecessor’s fault.

You own this, Boy King. It’s ALLLLL yours.

For those that trashed President Bush I do not feel sorry..I did say things I didn't like about his actions during the last part of his presidency but nothing compared to others..There was noting wrong with him and now people are finding out..it has just started so hold on to your pants we have not seen anything yet with these criminals in the white house..If I had of know this commie bunch would have won I would have voted for Hillary in the primaries..To me she is less a threat to us than the Muslim..Did I just say that??

I do not blame President Bush for not saying anything he has class and does not blame anyone for his faults like the dems are doing to him..So I can say i love you George and Laura wish you were here..

I genuinely hope that President Bush remain silent now and forevermore.

If he wasn't a fighter when he was falsely and evily provoked, I wouldn't want to hear what he has to say now. It would surely be pathetically neutral because that's probably the most he could summon up to answer his political enemies.

I believe he has a fighting spirit only for enemy groups like the Taliban, Al Queda, the late Hussein's army, etc., not domestic enemies as individuals.

Let his surrogrates speak for him.....and maybe he'll be tough in the book he's writing.......when no one gives a damn anymore.

Obama can no longer blame President Bush for his problems...he can and should blame him self...he is a pathetic, weak, narcissistic man. Fox News has not attacked Obama, rather Fox News goes into depth explaining Obama policy...that his policy's may be wrong and is so reported does not equate an "attack". Our little boy Obama has trouble with that perception.

Obama dismissed that assertion and claimed one station was devoted to "attacking" the Obama administration: (video on right)

This is the oldest trick in the book. The ‘Briar Rabbit’ trick. The truth is that they don’t want President Bush speaking out because they know it hurts Obama.

The Bush Doctrine in Iraq(the Middle East) is working. Iran wants freedom now and Obama is dropping the ball on what could be the first turning point for the broader strategy in 30 years. Obama is very vulnerable on this issue because he is on the wrong side of history.

Obama is vulnerable on the TARP issue as well. While we did not like what President Bush did, the truth is that had they left it there, we would not be in this mess. Obama and the democrats have quadrupled our spending and deficits. Obama’s actions are going to prolong the recession (already has) and stall our economy for decades. President Bush’s original TARP, while stupid, would have done no such thing.

Obama is vulnerable on NK. President Bush had no problem sending the military to board NK ships trafficing in nuclear materials and missiles. Obama is standing by watching the ship sail into a port that will not abide by any UN sanctions or decrees.

Obama is vulnerable on the whole socialized medicine debacle and it goes on and on and on.

Obama’s numbers will be in the low 30’s by Christmas..mark my word.

It is when Cheney speaks up that the Ubama people get nervous.
Naturally they would prefer the human punching bag instead.

Incompetents always like to deflect blame by picking on a scapegoat.

It's all on Zero's shoulders now. Time to grow up, little boy, and stop the finger-pointing. It's your recession, your two wars, your failure in Iraq, your failure in North Korea ...

Otherwise we get to point out how 9/11 was 8 years in the planning while the Xlinton administration's FBI was busy compiling a dossier on Cardinal O'Connor.

“That’s all they know how to do.”

exactly! Mr. ‘let’s move forward’, takes every opportunity to make snide comments about President Bush. I, too, wish President Bush was back.....for entirely different reasons....
