Lonewolf Diaries: Republicans Need to Grow a Sense of Humor

Posted By Steven Crowder On June 16, 2009 @ 5:58 pm In Featured Story, Lone Wolf Diaries | 4 Comments

Yes, you’ve read correctly. To all of you GOP types playing the “offended” card on a daily basis… Prepare to have your feelings hurt, because according to my carefully calculated research… Republicans need to shut up and laugh a little.

Never has the GOP’s lack of funnybone been on sharper display than the last 5 months. For a party that claims to “shun political correctness,” we’ve certainly done a good job of embracing it. Over the past 150 days there have been three “media-worthy” politically incorrect moments related to this administration and Republicans have managed to jump on each one of them for political gain. All to no avail. Let us examine:

[1]

Exhibit A

Barack Obama’s Special Olympics comment on Leno. – On air, President B. Hussein Obama made a self-deprecating joke in regards to his bowling abilities. He made the implication that he was so bad at bowling that his skill level resembled that of a mentally challenged athlete. Twas a surprisingly funny, off-handed moment for a generally very unfunny president.

Republicans, however, decided to act as though they were appalled by this and ran with the “you can’t make fun of retards” theme. (I’m paraphrasing here of course, but you get the picture.) I believe that somewhere in the middle, Sarah Palin and her son Trigg were tied into the whole fiasco. The media took little notice and sharp comedians like Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert managed to successfully lampoon Conservatives for being humorless old bags. That’s one for you, Democrats… ...

Alot of this is misplaced anger and the feeling of powerlessness. It’s easier to effect change on a late night TV show than the state of the country. PEOPLE ARE ANGRY.

Wanda Sykes told a joke about how she’d like to see more photos of Obama smoking, and less of his nipples.

She let him off without any cokehead jokes though.

In a world where every liberal with a hang nail, screams outrage and gets a gov’t stipend to heal it, I ‘m supposed to be more flexible and laugh?

Born in Detroit, raised in Montreal, Steven Crowder really had nothing going for him until he turned twelve. It was at that age that he was awarded the (coveted) role of voicing the character "The Brain" on the hit children's TV series "Arthur". The role immediately launched him into the realm of "Babe Magnet". With this in mind, he continued down the path of acting (in both voice, TV and film) until he came to the realization that he was no longer the cute infant that Public Broadcasting had learned to love. Now that his baby-fat cheeks had left him, he knew that he needed a new "hook "to catch the ladies. Frantically, he searched for the answer until one summer, working as manual labor for the “Just for Laughs” Comedy Festival, the art of Stand up Comedy caught his eye. He approached a famous comedian and received advice on how to get started in the business, after which he was escorted from the premises, fined a hefty sum and brutally beaten. Once the feeding tube was removed, Steven sauntered on down to a local comedy club to try his hand at the trade. The throwing of vegetables and angry screams of the crowd created and incredible "rush", upon which Steven became immediately addicted and he never looked back. One year later, (at 18 years old) Steven returned to the “Just for Laughs” as the youngest Comedian ever to grace the festivals stage (breaking the previous record set by Chris Rock at 19). His act was so well received that coordinators decided to feature him on XM Radio and booked him on tours across North America. Now, based out New York City, and fresh off of winning the Nationwide “So you Think You’re Funny” MySpace Comedy Contest, Steven Crowder continues to please both audiences and critics with his unique brand of Comedy and point of view.

******

I hate to break the news to him but he's not funny either!

“Republicans need to grow a sense of humour? So they should yuck it up when called racists, elitists, war mongering baby killers? Maybe Democrats, liberals, the MSM and the entertainment industry ought to lighten up and quit the name calling.”

Exactly. Republicans have more than enough of a sense of humor, what they need is a spine and that ability to fight back.

#1 on my list of things for the 2012 candidate is that ability to hit back and hit back hard when attacked by the media and the Democrats.

#2 is that ability to go past the media and talk directly to the people.

In the Sotamayor nomination hearing, she was asked about her membership in a womens’ group. It seems it goes against the rules to be in an organization that discriminates on the basis of sex or nationality. But I didn’t hear the same comment made at the hearing (in the media) about her membership in the supremacist organization La Raza.

I think the point is that if 'Pubs made these kinds of "jokes", they'd be tarred, feathered, run out of town on a rail, shot, hung, drawn and quartered by the media and the 'Rats. If 'Rats make these "jokes", they get a free pass and it's the fault of the 'Pubs that they don't have any sense of humor.

So which is it? If the 'Rats get a pass on this kind of "humor", so should the 'Pubs. If the 'Rats are going to play the "offended" card at every 'Pub gaffe, then then 'Pubs should be free to play the same game against the 'Rats.

The same standard should be applied. And not just on the gaffe playing field. I'm blaming Obombah for everything and anything that goes wrong, going back to noon on Jan. 20th. The 'Rats blamed George Bush from Day One for everything, from a supposedly "bad" economy to the fact that their $hit stunk. If they played it that way with us, I'm playing it that way with them. Let them squeal, I don't care, it's music to my ears.

I forgot to mention that on top of being racists, elitists and warmongers, etc., they are MEAN spirited too. I agree, Democrats and the sheep that follow them must be taken down a peg or two.

"I’m sorry “fellow Republicans”… But when will we get a clue? Before Reagan, we were...."

This guy has been able to vote for what- 3 years? He wasn't even born when Reagan was elected...for his second term. Pardon me if I don't accept advice from a stand-up comic that was still a teen in the summer of 2007.

I couldn't disagree more. Laughing this sort of thing off is to allow the liberals to perpetuate their two sets of rules approach to politics - anything is permitted to the Party, nothing to the opposition. What does the author think would have happened to a Republican who made a joke about the Special Olympics? Does he think the Dems would just have laughed it off?

On the contrary, I find this approach fully justified. If the Dems don't like it, let them stop using it first. We've put up with it for a very long time now. No more.

Yeah, I know exactly what the author means. I don't find anything funny at all in the above picture of MO serving "poor, homeless" people at a soup kitchen. Sure, some might laugh at the fact that the "poor" guy in front is taking a pic with an expensive electronic device while waiting for his free meal. As an eeeeevil conservative, I see only welfare fraud and abuse.

However, I do laugh at pictures of people in the Middle East who catch themselves on fire whilst burning an American flag.

The examples of "jokes" cited in the article were extremely tasteless and way too over the top to actually be funny.

During the primaries, he bowled a 37 in Altoona.
Here, look it up with Google.

Imagine how little humor we'll show when we deal with this issue the same way we dealt with Letterman:

Check it out and see if you might help.

The war on the double-standard culture continues.

No, you lying leftist scumbags made humor a crime. Now you
get to
have it pointed out to you. Now run along and check your

work boots to see if your missing paycheck is in there.

You are a living hate crime in progress.
