Well we're back and all's well. But in the morning there's the broadcast news, the newspapers which list to port with pilots that grease the relative bearing liberally (except for Fox) and give me little workable, insightful skinny on the world. The time difference between the mainland and here is cut by more than an hour and a half when I peruse the boards versus listening to the news..... unless there's some catastrophic event or a car chase in L.A.

I trust the heads up I get here from my friends more than all of the above.

Long ago we had an HM3 aboard our ship who served with FMF. While in that billet, he sustained wounds on three separate incidents. Awarded three Purple Heart Medals, he was transfered out of Vietnam to continue his enlistment aboard our ship. A great guy, featured in a Stars and Stripes article way back when.
