Operation Rescue Statement:
“We are shocked at this mornings disturbing news that Mr. Tiller was gunned down. Operation Rescue has worked for years through peaceful, legal means, and through the proper channels to see him brought to justice. We denounce vigilantism and the cowardly act that took place this morning. We pray for Mr. Tillers family that they will find comfort and healing that can only be found in Jesus Christ.”

I’m also glad to see this statement - as others mentioned too. Surely if Operation Rescue, which have put their bodies, reputations and wallets where their mouths are; which have risked arrest, lawsuits and worse, sees things this way, we can also distance ourselves from the vigilantism stupidity that takes an extremely short term view as more important the long term gains of the entire pro-life movement.
I would say the same exact thing if I was heading up Operation Rescue. They do effective civil disobedience which surely enrages liberals and has liberals calling them murders of abortionists; but they do not advocate for violence.
However, for one man - maybe and we don’t know his motivations for sure - the sight of Tiller the Killer’s handiwork may have been just too much.
Sadly, it won’t matter what statement they put out, they will be branded as having gun in hand from the pro-death crowd from the president down.
