One hundred days after signing the $787 billion economic stimulus package, President Obama declared Wednesday in a Las Vegas speech, "we are already seeing results."
The president called the stimulus package "the most sweeping economic recovery act in history -- a plan designed to save jobs, create new ones and put money in people's pockets." He said it already has created or saved nearly 150,000 jobs.
And later, at an evening fundraiser in Southern California, Obama asserted, "It's safe to say we have stepped back from the brink."
But a Republican congressman responded seconds after the speech by saying, in effect, not so fast, Mr. President.
Texas Rep. John Culberson called the stimulus package "a fiscal flop and nothing to celebrate," and he said that since the bill was signed Feb. 17, "1.597 million jobs have been lost and unemployment numbers at their highest levels in two decades."
Obama's aides had mocked reporters for making a fuss over his first 100 days in office, but the president was eager to assess the first 100 days of his $787 billion stimulus package.

Probably all government jobs, there were something like 57,000 government jobs added and 600,000 jobs lost last month.

$787 billion creates or saves 150,000 jobs? In government that may be deemed a success, but now that you have taken on the mantle of titan of industry, that is a horrible return on investment. If you were a real CEO, not one who just stole the position, you would be fired.
It is time for the Republicans to scream bloody murder. How possibly can he have created 150,000 jobs. He has lost over 6 million jobs since he was elected president. How possibly can you take credit for 150k saved jobs when new unemployment claims increase my 1/2 million a week. He just lies without anybody calling him on it.
His decision to close 780+ Chrysler dealers will cost around 40-50K jobs at these dealers alone, did they subtract these jobs from the added/saved total before he touted the 150,000 jobs?
HOW DO YOU COUNT A SAVED JOB?! DOES THIS MEEN THAT SINCE 90% OF ALL AMERICANS ARE STILL EMPLOYED THAT OBUMMER HAS SAVED OR CREATED 90% OF THE JOBS IN AMERICA?
I think it is likely they are just making these numbers up. How about you?
