Many years ago I slightly knew a woman who killed herself by shooting herself through the abdomen with a shotgun. Her funeral was absolutely the saddest thing I have experienced. Watching her brother throw himself on her casket asking her to come back was particularly unpleasant.

Not to be macabre, but was it an open or closed casket wake? Also, was the funeral in a church? I ask because when I was very young, there was a family friend who shot himself (over a girlfriend) and the pastor refused to sanction the funeral; another priest had to perform the services, which made for an unholy living hell of an event. This was 25 or more years ago, IIRC.
