You’re missing the point..the only way this could have been done was by forcing Chrysler into bankruptcy..which allows them to petition the judge to abrogate the franchise agreement. However, the unions, with NO equity stake, got sweethe art deals out of it..it’s as though the bankruptcy laws and courts were turned upside down..

They should have gone bankrupt long ago, without the federal funds keeping them afloat and making them beholden to the feds. However, an unassisted bankruptcy would likely have been worse for this dealer and many others had Chrysler actually closed its doors during the proceedings. Without a UAW deal there would have been no ongoing manufacturing - no parts, no cars, just dead stock. I’m not saying I like the government deal, but this is a discussion that started about one dealership - and had the market been allowed to work properly he very well may have been in the same situation - or worse.
