McChrystal was Cheney's chief assassin (Says Seymour Hersh of Obama's New Afghan CO)
Press TV ^ | 15 May 2009 | Seymour Hersh/ Staff

Posted on 05/17/2009 5:16:22 AM PDT by tlb

Seymour Hersh says that Dick Cheney headed a secret assassination wing and the head of the wing has just been named as the new commander in Afghanistan.

Hersh said that there is a special unit called the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) that does high-value targeting of men that are known to be involved in anti-American activities, or are believed to be planning such activities.

According to Hersh, the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) was headed by former US vice president Dick Cheney and the former head of JSOC, Lieutenant General Stanley McChrystal who has just been named the new commander in charge of the war in Afghanistan.

Most of what General McChrystal has done over a 33-year career remains classified, including service between 2003 and 2008 as commander of the Joint Special Operations Command, an elite unit so clandestine that the Pentagon for years refused to acknowledge its existence.

On July 22, 2006, Human Rights Watch issued a report titled "No blood, no foul" about American torture practices at three facilities in Iraq. One of them was Camp Nama, which was operated by the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), under the direction of then Major General Stanley McChrystal.

McChrystal was officially based at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, but he was a frequent visitor to Camp Nama and other Special Forces bases in Iraq and Afghanistan where forces under his command were based.

The decision by Obama's administration to appoint General McChrystal as the new commander in charge of the war in Afghanistan and retaining the military commission for the US war-on-terror detainees held in the Guantanamo Bay prison are the latest examples of the new US administration walking in Bush's foot steps with regards to torture and denial of habeas corpus.

I am beginning to like General McChrystal. My original reaction to the shuffle of command was negative but more now it looks like a smart move.

According to Michael Yon, one of the reasons the US has succeeded in Iraq is the ability to find and kill those responsible for causing trouble.

So, Hersh finally gets one right.

The Special Operators will get their chance again in A’stan.

“Most of what General McChrystal has done over a 33-year career remains classified...”

Fine.

How come we never hear:

Most of what Barak Obama has done in his life remains classified

One can only wonder when the JSOC will get to Mr. Hersh.

The interrogator said that he did see Gen. Stanley McChrystal, commander of US Joint Special Operations forces in Iraq, visiting the Nama facility on several occasions. "I saw him a couple of times. I know what he looks like."

Woah ! You mean this "Jeff" guy saw a commanding general visit a unit under his command ?

Pretty awesome info there "Jeff" . /s

Mr. Hersh has now besmudged the integrity of all the men and women who make up the U.S. Military’s special operations groups. What a dirt bag. Hope he has the presence of mind to keep his scummy self away from places like MacDill AFB, Coronado Island, Ft. Benning, etc.

In Viet Nam the Phoenix program used local Provincial Reconnaisance Units to track down and kill the local Viet Cong infrastructure. Books were kept on the numbers and location of such people. Their work was so successful that in one province of South Viet Nam with which I am familiar there was simply no indigenous Viet Cong leadership left by 1972. I would imagine the same sort of thing was employed in Iraq, and is employed in Afghanistan. In the guerrilla/terrorist war no civilian opponent is off limits. Given the opportunity, he will kill you so you must kill him first.

This is the same Seymour Hersh who wrote a book supporting the Soviet propaganda that the Korean airline they shot down was on a spy mission. Gen McChrystal never engaged in assassination, EVER. If the terrorists he was trying capture fought back they were killed in a firefight with special ops teams. This isn’t just a disgusting attack on McChrystal but on all the Seals and other special ops teams he commanded.

The fact that ol' Sy is still walking around kind of proves his information is total BS.

Certainly Cheney and McCrystal would have gotten him out of the way first.

Or, maybe not ~ if Sy were definitely mentally ill or something.

Could this be a case of a Leftwingtard's "Head Exploding"?

If the JSOC actually exists and it actually is tasked with assassinating “high value” targets and it actually killed people I would like to know who they were.

It does not make sense that this kind of organization would risk the public relations nightmare to the US that would accrue if it could be proved this group was assassinating low level anti US operatives.

In any case, we already are employing military snipers to kill terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan. This is no secret. It is being done openly and is considered a legitimate military activity.

So, Mr. Hersh, just who are these “high level” targets that have been assassinated? If you can’t name names your story is as worthless as you are.

I read this twice and am still shaking my head in disgust.
Exactly where in the article did it explain the innuendo of the outrageous headline? “Chief Assassin”? I have to wonder if this crap is written by Soviet communists, Chinese communists, Mooslimb anarchists, or just typical stupid DemonRATs. In any event, it is the perfect display of the low level of intelligence and high level of hate for America that most of the left live by.
