Cutoff welfare for unmarried mothers and watch the rate fall.
You are 100% correct. I know a couple of people in AZ that did not get married because the combined income would knock them off the public assistance for medical care for the baby. In fact one of these couples actually had a second child before they set the wedding date so the State would pay for the child birth. In my opinion the State should make the mother and father pay back all assistance they receive even if it takes them their entire life. In my world; any public assistance someone receives should go into an account and that person is responsible to pay back that money even if they have to do it with their social security when they retire. You would see the birth rates drop like a rock!
Simple solution!
Unfortunately, modern govt uses complex solutions.
Yep the old saying tax what you want less of and subsidize what you want more of fits here. If there was no check no free housing and no food stamps we’d see the out of wedlock birthrate overnight drop dramatically.I’ve always thought that you should have to work for so many years before you ever think of asking for any help. Our system is completely set up bass ackward.
Obvious to us, unthinkable to leftists.
They have the ultimate welfare. Child support. They are guaranteed 18 years of someone else’s money, even if the father dies it is difficult to get out of. Its a total scam and the states make off with plenty of profit from it from the government thanks to clinton.
This is correct. I know several welfare moms in their 30s and 40s who’ve just given birth. Their children are turning adult and they need to keep their apartments and lifestyle going. Those dependents, newborns in these two cases, allow them to do that.
Incentives matter and the war on marriage continues.
