George Bush II left a legacy of a broken economy, a series of idiotic decisions, a history of nonconservative actions, an economic collapse and an invading army of Mexicans and other foreign nationals.
John McCain was too old, too nasty and too stupid and ran one of the worse political campaigns in American history.
There is more blame to go around - political correctness which makes anything non-western, non-Christian and non-European American “GOOD” and everything else bad, an doctrinal system which has degenerated into a propaganda machine for the radical left, religious institutions which have been shanghaied by homosexuals, radical feminists and other counter-culture freaks, and a mainstream media which has become a propaganda organ for the hard left.
The system is broken. I don;t know how to fix it, or if it can even be fixed.

Who would have believed that only a few years after thousands of Americans were killed in a typical Islamic attack that a part-Arab guy of questionable citizenship whose first name is the name of Mohammad's horse would be elected president?
It is the education system. All of those radicals are now the teachers. Daycare kids are now in the schools, many, not all did not have a strong family and they are easily lead.
