“Ridge is not pro-abort”

Pro-abortion, pro-choice, whatever. He wants it to be legal in most cases and supports Roe V. Wade doesn’t he?

If think the pro-life vote is key in PA. Isn’t it?

The growth of the Philly suburbs may have changed abortion attitudes of the Keystone state. I suspect if Bob Casey Jr went on tv announcing support for partial-birth abortion, he would still be re-elected.

{Pro-abortion, pro-choice, whatever}

There is a difference.

Pro-abortion is wanting abortion any time, any where, and for any reason with tax payer funding.

Pro-choice is wanting abortion legal in the 1st trimester, but supporting reasonable restrictions like parental consent and a 24 hour waiting period.

Back in 1992, the Dems ran the “Year of the Woman” campaign. These women Senate candidates were quite vocal in their support of abortion on demand. The DNC even black balled the elder Casey.

1994 was good for the pro-life movement. Many pro-life Republicans were elected to Governorships and legislatures. They passed reasonable restrictions. This shifted public attitudes on abortion to be more pro-life. The American public doesn’t like abortion on demand, but they aren’t there yet on an outright ban. The abortion is something that has to done incrementally.

Take the gay rights movement. They’ve done the incremental thmethod perfectly. First it was hate crimes. then job discrimination protections. Then domestic partnerships. Now the gay rights movement wants the whole thing in marriage. If the gay rights movement demanded marriage in 1980, the whole movement would have gone bust. Conservatives can learn a lot from gay rights activists.
