(MYFOX NATIONAL) - Last week Google brought in a herd of goats to mow the grass on its Mountain View, Calif. headquarters rather than using lawnmowers.
The company said that it wanted to take a more "low-carbon" approach with the goats reducing the company's contribution to air and noise pollution. The cost of hiring the 200-some goats is about the same price as mowing, but the goats were "a lot cuter to watch."
PETA responded to a TechCrunch call about the goats saying that though they have no problem with letting goats do what they do, they do have concerns about how they were transported and whether they have enough shelter and water.
Google said that though the goats were not technically employees "each goat is entitled to a free organic lunch."
Turns out another tech company uses goat power to mow its property, Yahoo has also employed goats to graze their grounds .

Let’s also take into account the amount of C02 dumped into the atomosphere from trucking them in! All they had to do was buy some push mowers, have the employees mow the grass on their lunch break or hire someone to do it if they are that concerned with it. I always find it funny that morons like these end up polluting more in order to try and cut back back on pollution.
JFC people...
“Those poor goats might be exposed to toxic hazards as a greedy corporation tries to abuse their rights as animals and keep them as slaves to serve their corporate masters!”
Ain’t that the truth. Go over to the goats and ask them what their working conditions are like, and they respond, “Baa-a-ad. Baa-ah-ad.”
Up the Goat Ungulate Liberation Front!
Goats are browsers.
Sheep are grazers as are cattle.
Goats are inefficient as lawn mowers.
My lawn is a 4’ pasture.
I asked the boss to bring one one of his steers (read steak etc on-the-hoof) down to chomp on it, but none of them are rope trained.
I use one of those as I’d rather get my exercise outdoors mowing my lawn than spending the time inside a sweaty gym.
Goats suck at lawn mowing, they are browsers. You need sheep for grazing lawns.
Google is playing head games with Cubbies fans I see.
How do you get a goat to push that?
When will the Service Employees Union start pushing card check for the goats?
Goats leave pellets similar to deer. They don't generally require any cleanup. It's not like cow patties. I turn my goats into my yard on occasion but they tend to like to scratch themselves on the house so I don't make a constant habit of it.
Most pastors do not have any goats in them.
99.44% goat free pastors. (actually I have no idea if they are goat free, I just googled for "pastors" to get an image).
You use a small harness and have them pull it.
An advantage of using a lawnmower is that you can walk or play on your lawn without stepping in piles of cr@p every 20 ft.
LOL. I don’t know where folks come up with these Ms. Spellings.
Goat vote!
Goat vote!
Goat vote!
SanFran has been using goats to clean up grass and weeds for years - nothing new here.
Good thing im not catholic! LOL
My father in law tried this years ago. The goat ate in patches right down to the dirt. Not the desired outcome.
You’d think Kim Jong Il would at least plant some grass seed, so his populace would have something to graze on....cheap enough eats; shouldn’t infringe much on his nuclear wishlist.
I used to use one as well, I actually didn’t mind it because it got me outside and some exercise.
But we have been told that cows passing gas are destroying the atmosphere. And since the science is settled, how dare you suggest something different? /sarcasm off
