Classic stuff, Ron. And we both came to the same conclusion and recognized the Miss California stand because it jumps off the page as so obvious. Truthfully, I know that a major portion of this country believes as we do, in fact, a solid majority. That Bush had a 94% approval rating for months after 9-11 verifies that. When it gets really serious and the country is faced with genuine threat, people come clean. But as you said, the intimidation factor in play right now is very strong. We need to be strong in response.

That's a good point. WTSHTF, we'll probably see a lot of the people jump onto our side.

I guess what we have to figure out is how to keep them there

In my view, the fact Bush was successful in keeping terrorist attacks at bay bred the complacency toward security and the threats we see now. It's like a no win situation, especially when the left is out there basically saying 911 was an anomaly and Bush used it as an opportunity "fear mongering" to strip us of our rights. And of course we all know Bush lied about the whole thing anyway.

They were quite effective with that and I don't know how you combat it with an American Idol mentality that unfortunately is all too prevalent today.

Thomas Jefferson said that freedom requires eternal vigilance, but how do we get that across to the majority of citizens who really can't even define freedom, at least how the Framers defined it.

If we are to combat this politically, we have a very difficult problem and very few out there that seem to want to articulate it.

The ones who do, we will be told by the GOP and unfortunately too many FReepers can't win so it's a throw away vote and waste of time. I pray we are never faced with the dilemma/suicidal ticket of a zer0 vs. McCain again. (My soul is still aching after that vote)

I would personally like to see more of Tom McClintock, Michele Bachmann and their brand of conservatism out there for all to see.

I see too many problems to overcome without some divine help, that's if he still deems us worthy, I pray he does.

Sorry for the rambling rant/not very positive post
