An attorney who served in the Clinton administration was found dead Thursday in an apparent suicide at his Washington law office.
Kilpatrick Stockton, an Atlanta firm, confirmed in a statement that attorney Mark Levy had died.
"Mark Levy was well known and highly respected for his successful appearances before the Supreme Court of the United States," said Bill Dorris, the firm's co-managing partner.
Levy was a deputy assistant attorney general in the Department of Justice between 1993 and 1995 and served five years in the Solicitor General's office.
D.C. Police spokeswoman Helen Andrews said officers were called to an office building where the firm is located to investigate a shooting Thursday morning. She said investigators believe it was a suicide.
Levy attended Yale University's law school with former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and more recently worked on fundraising for Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, said Dennis Gingold, an attorney who was working with Levy on a case.
"I don't know anyone who isn't shocked by what just happened," Gingold said. "He was a good guy. He really was professional, first class."
During his career, Levy had argued 16 cases before the Supreme Court. At Kilpatrick Stockton, he served as counsel and chair of the firm's Supreme Court and appellate advocacy practice. Levy, who was married and has two children, lived in Bethesda, Md.
The firm had announced this week that 24 lawyers would be laid off, but it wasn't immediately clear whether Levy had been affected by staff cuts.
The death comes after the chief financial officer of mortgage giant Freddie Mac killed himself last week. David Kellermann was found dead April 22 in the basement of his northern Virginia home. Colleagues had noticed he was under stress and had suggested he take time off.

I know .. and this generation is stunningly
bereft of what our grandparents and parents had:
grit and faith. They endured life’s ups and downs
and took them in stride.
This group and younger are pathetic, weak and spoiled.
Something goes awry, and poof .. they lash out by
removing themselves (and sometimes their families)
or striking out at society. No guts, no intestinal
fortitude nor the ability to suffer a downfall and
go on. They just can’t cope .. pitiful.
Reminds me of a kid I was in grade school with. A stuck-up creep. In the fall of 1975, which was the year my class had finished college, there was a reunion at our grade school. This twit told me he had gone to Yale. “That’s in New Haven,” he added. Same Yale class as Levy.
You’re a deep thinker, aren’t you?

Arkancide or Obamacide?
Thanks for the ping!
Actually, someone needs to start an Obama Downside Legacy. He is already racking up a body count.
Ironically, the Associated Press used the exact same term here, “apparent suicide,” as it did in its initial story on Vince Foster’s death. We know now that the AP was wrong on Foster. It’s too soon to draw any conclusions on this new case until more details are made available, if and when.

You're correct, that was a quote from the head honcho at the Rose Law Firm in Little Rock, who knew Foster very well.
And it wasn't the newsfolks who nearly a week after Foster's death began to find "causes" for the bogus "suicide". That post-mortem psychoanalysis was begun by the Clinton WH spinmeisters, and the MSM, like the good sycophants they were, took the hint and discussed Foster's state of mind ad nauseum.
