This is a way to gauge how easily the US public can be manipulated by the News. Take a problem. Inflate it into a ‘crisis’ by all manner of apocalyptic rhetoric, and see if you can move the public into taking certain emergency measures. If they do, then you know they are ripe for next move in the Global Warming, or Financial rip-offs.

I have to wonder if this is a “test” against us to see

#1. How far it can travel in a short amount of time
#2. Our reaction to it.

Instead of "Swine Flu", we should refer to this as the "Reichstag Flu."
