Cinco de Mayo fest canceled over swine flu April 29, 2009 1:12 PM | 1 Comment
A Mexican organization in Chicago has canceled a Cinco de Mayo celebration this weekend over concerns about the swine flu.
Performers, vendors and public officials from Mexico were planning on coming to Chicago for the event at Navy Pier sponsored by the Mexican Civic Society of Illinois and scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, said Chairman Eduardo Rodriguez.
Although some of the performers had trouble getting flights from Mexico, organizers cancelled the event because of the flu outbreak, Rodriguez said.
"We had to cancel it over the swine flu," Rodriguez said.
When people coming from Mexico began cancelling their trips, Rodriguez said, the civic society took another look at whether it should hold the festival.
"They are going to be staying home, and hopefully they will be safe," Rodriguez said.
Cinco de Mayo celebrates Mexico's defeat of a French army on May 5, 1862.

What is going to happen in Los Angeles? How many will be infected?

Hopefully this Mexican Swine Flu will cause more Americans to demand we throw the illegals out and seal the southern border!

Cinco de Mayo celebrates Mexico's defeat of a French army on May 5, 1862. Clearly, an important holiday in Chicago.

Gov. Perry ought to cancel all Cinco de Mayo events across Texas. If entire school districts are closing, we certainly don’t need to have these non-essential activities.

I think that there was going to be an IMMIGRANT MARCH also!!

Gov. Perry ought to cancel all Cinco de Mayo events across Texas. That might be called racist and insensitive to THEIR culture.

Fat chance. In areas already completely overrun with illegals, it’s full speed ahead. The illegals in San Jose are having a big parade or protest or something tomorrow and they were already warning yesterday that it had better not be cancelled, or else.

While Cinco de Mayo has limited or no significance nationwide in Mexico, the date is observed in the United States and other locations around the world as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride.[9] However, a common misconception in the United States is that Cinco de Mayo is Mexico's Independence Day.[10] Mexico's Independence Day is actually September 16 (dieciséis de septiembre in Spanish),[11] which is the most important national patriotic holiday in Mexico.[12]

Seeing all of those clowns riding around with their huge Mexican flags honking and yelling... thinking about it I still shake my head.

“the BIG IMMIGRATION MARCH....”
5/6/2009 (AP)
“The aliens were finally defeated, not only by bacteria but by the Grover’s Mill Militia with the deadly assault weapons they had on hand, .22 caliber rifles and BB pistols.
Furthermore, it appears the aliens did not have their “magnetic blister” shields to protect them in their deadly `Chebby’ invasion vehicles, and one-by-one they became ill and their machines stopped bouncing up-and-down.”

What I would like to see canceled because of swine flu is Congress - we could greatly benefit if both houses of Congress went home and stayed locked in their basement - with masks on!

Well if you stay away from the parade route for about 48 hours afterwards you should be ok. If you live close to the area you migth want to go visit friends for a fw days. Hopefully the only ones who will catch it are the ones marching.

Gov. Perry ought to cancel all Cinco de Mayo events across Texas. We used to call that "Stinky Tamale Day" at the old work place.
