Snowe needs to be encouraged to leave as well. Sounds like she’ll be tagging the hate crimes bill with the “bipartisan” label when it gets to the senate.

In spite of??? The only people lauding Specter are the DNC and the DNC/MSM.

Specter revealing his true colors is a cause for celebration.

Specter is total wuss............who needs him. We have the passion and the Way, the Truth and the Light. Respect for LIFE is the first step. Put it in God’s hands and fight.

I don’t think the media understands that a lot of Republicans are glad Spector switched sides. He sure wasn’t doing the Republicans any good. Of course, not many Republicans are doing the party any good. We just need a true conservative party.

What is needed is likely a new party
The Republicans are self destructing

A better party would be the Liberty Party
Dedicated to the support and defense of Liberty

It's Big Tent is

Conservatives
Libertarians
and Capitalists

No laws shall be enacted that
restrict the Liberty of the Individual
except as dictated by Natural Law

Things always change. This is definitely the latest sign of weakness, but the momentum will turn in time. Not now. That's for sure. IMO, the biggest barometer will be Rhambo. When he weakens, we will see a change in momentum.

Seriously.

For Mr. Specter the Government teet is too sweet to let slip away by a bunch of Conservative primary constituents!

pressure to play ball.

We need to puncture the ball. They want us to take the path of least resistance like they want the public to do.

This government is making a serious run on ownership of the public.

The OP(formerly the GOP)lost its Conservative spine long ago in order to expand the voter base. Trying to hang onto a party that has increasingly accepted socialist principles is the political version of battered wife syndrome.

Just a reminder.

Specter was swept into office in the first Reagan landslide.

Reagan, himself, made no effort to run him out of the party.

The GOP can use back splints if it wants to. I want see a strong leader rise up to lead the Conservatives who have been disenfranchised from the GOP. We must unite and strive to establish a platform which reflects the morality and structure ingrained in the intent of our forefathers. Unquestionably what they did worked. What has been going on for the past 50 some odd years does not.

Specter can GTH.

Republicans need to resist the media efforts to try and overturn the refocus on conservative values. What the media wants is legitimization for its leftwing bias with Republican enabling. We may win, we may lose, but we should NOT give that to them.

Mercy...

Look, This is the action of a politician who could not win with the Republican party! Actually, he is against all the the original founding fathers stood for...

So, lets take the alternative - he could not win as a Republican so he changed parties. Lot of good that will do him since he has been against most of what the Democrats are for. Sooo... He is just a loser for both parties.

Now let’s get back to who is electible. Unfortunately for him, it is one that supports the Constitution! He or she will be the nominee (thank goodness).

If this does not work, the US and the Constitution is gone anyway - so just prepare for the revolution...

There are a number of interesting comments on the fate of the GOP by the various posters. I have never been a proponent of third parties, but I have also lost faith in the Republicans and Democrats. Neither one can discipline itself when in power. Both are advocates of big government and deficit spending. It is simply a matter of time. One party wants to go a little slower towards socialism than the other. It is the Iron Law of Oligarchy in action. The only realistic choice is between Statism and revolution/secession. I hate that it has come to this, but there is no use fighting human nature. The longer a political party exists, the more tyrannical it becomes.

We need the moderates. But, if they don’t want to be kicked out they have to be responsive to the rest of us. that does not mean they have to agree with us all of the time or even most of the time.that just means they can’t stab us in the back constantly. There are plenty of country clubbers who are not moderates but have conservative voting records but somehow they just seem to stab us in the back as well. They need to become responsive as well. Middle class conservatives are sick and tired of losing even if they have a majority. They are plainly looking for someone to take the blame. If the party wants to be inclusive than you have to be inclusive to you base as well.

I am trying to remember, when was the last time a Senator switched from the Rats to the GOP? I know tat Libermann because an independent, but he still votes with the Rats.

How far back do we have to go? And, the real question is whether the current attitude is only a path to true disaster.

Some communists were happy to see Hitler (who they say as right wing although we know better) elected because they believed a his eventual overthrow would lead to a communist paradise.

I am having trouble grasping how ideological purity is a good compensation for losing all the progress made since Reagan.

I’m all for having stiff spines, but when the ‘Rats have 60 Senators, Obama, Reid, & Pelosi will have unlimited power.
