The House of Representatives just passed HR 1913 -- The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009 -- on a vote of 234-190. The bill, which Obama has urged Congress to pass, would extend federal hate crimes laws to cover sexual orientation, gender identity, and disability, as well as race, color, religion, national origin, and sexual orientation.
Not a single Republican voted in favor. 15 Democrats voted against.
In the floor debate before the vote, North Carolina Republican Virginia Foxx called it a "hoax" that Matthew Shepard's killing had anything to do with him being gay.
Ted Kennedy and Olympia Snowe will lead the effort for passage in the Senate later in the year.

It’s time to take this POS “law” to court!

Homosexuals are 60 times more likely to be the victim of a violent attack by a homosexual than a non-homosexual.

Now we need to “encourage” Snowe to go home to her party before it goes to the senate so the democrats can have all the blame.

Hate Crimes just make me sick....
If/when someone kills me, I REALLY don’t care why.

The Constitution prohibits the government from granting titles of privilege.
That's what this stuff is.
Still, Barney Frank has discriminated against me recently and he should be punished.

Homosexuals are 60 times more likely to be the victim of a violent attack by a homosexual than a non-homosexual. There's a sub-group of homosexuals who go out and do the anonymous sex thing. I won't get into how big a subset it is, but it's substantial. There's significant risk when any individual meets a stranger and willingly goes to an isolated location with them. This is true for homosexuals, prostitutes, and people buying drugs. It's also true for people who break down on the side of the road and for people who stop to help them.
Shepard's killing, from what I read, was the result of him agreeing to leave a place of relative safety to go to an isolated location with people he did not know.

I wonder if hate speech against Christians and Christianity is included? Nah!

It’s also true for straight women who go to a bar and go home with a guy. Alcohol and lust cause people to do stupid things.

Ted Kennedy... will lead the effort for passage in the Senate later in the year. That's a tad presumptuous, I'd say.
To: Victory111

What an absolute contradiction.
By voting on a bill that says murder is worse for some, they are saying that murder is not as wrong then for the others.
What a crock. Discrimination has just been legislated.
