KFI Radio in LA mentioned this on the 9:00 news update. They said Arlin is “in talks” to switch parties but did not mention their source.
Just heard about it on the radio. Not surprising.
Do the Republicans in PA who voted for him (me included) in the last election have any recourse over a move like this? Can he be recalled? The state of PA voted to have a Republican in the Senate, not a Democrat.
I do not like Specter, but I voted for him in 2004 because it was important to me that Republicans maintain as many Senate seats as possible to support Bush in the WOT.
Finally, he decides to do the paper work on an event that happened years ago. I guess he wont have to pay his taxes next year like the other democrats.
good get the hell out
He and Bloomberg must be buddies.
The arse is finally going to be honest about his political affiliations. Why doesn’t he go ahead and switch now?
It should be required that anyone switching parties while serving their term should step down and seek election in his new party.
Changing the balance like Specter is doing...sucks.
FoxNews just broke with confirmation of his announcement stating it’s coming “quite soon.”
c’mon specter tells us all something we already did’nt know!!!
Put a pig in a car wash and his true colors show up.
Good riddance to bad garbage.

Now I have to switch over to be a democrat to primary him!
Buh bye!!!!!!
Not just a RINO but a coward!
He’s only concerned about holding office.
As we long suspected.
Was it the genius of Obama's economic policies or Notre Dame's recent granting of an honorary doctorate that sealed the deal for him that it was time to come out of the closet?
From Washington Post:
By Chris Cillizza
Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter will switch his party affiliation from Republican to Democrat, according to sources informed of the decision.
Specter’s decision would give Democrats a 60 seat filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, assuming Democrat Al Franken is eventually sworn in as the next senator from Minnesota. (Former senator Norm Coleman is appealing Franken’s victory in the state Supreme Court.)
Specter as a Democrat would also fundamentally alter the 2010 calculus in Pennsylvania, as he was expected to face a difficult primary challenge next year from former represenative Pat Toomey.
God speed, Arlen...RIP
sw
Wonder how President GW Bush feels about supporting him last time, now.....?
