Officials Believe George Zinkhan Is Carrying Multiple Weapons
University of Georgia George M. Zinkhan III was being sought by police on April 25, 2009, in connection with the fatal shooting of 3 people in at a theater in Athens, Ga.
Three people were killed Saturday at a community theater near the University of Georgia, and authorities were searching for a marketing professor in the shooting deaths, reports CBS affiliate WGCL-TV in Atlanta.
Athens-Clarke County Police Maj. Mike Shockley said authorities were called to the theater about a couple of miles from campus about 12:30 p.m. and found three adults slain by gunfire. Three others were injured, "possibly by ricocheting bullets," he said.
Police were looking for George Zinkhan, 57, who has been a professor at the school in Athens, which is about 70 miles east of Atlanta, since the 1990s.
Authorities do not know what triggered the shootings, and it was not immediately clear if any students or faculty were among the victims.
"We do know that he was associated in some manner with at least one of the victims," Shockley said. "We are trying to determine those facts."
Zinkhan worked as a professor in the Terry College of Business, university spokesman Pete Konenkamp said. He didn't have any disciplinary problems.
"His track record is impeccable as far as his teaching credentials," Konenkamp said. "He's a respected professor on campus."
The university issued an alert as a precaution. Authorities said they don't know where Zinkhan may be.
In a statement, University of Georgia President Michael F. Adams said the university community was shocked and saddened.
"Our first thoughts are for safety of the university community and for prompt apprehension of the person responsible," Adams said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of all those who have been affected."
Before joining the faculty at the University of Georgia, Zinkhan held academic positions at the universities of Houston and Pittsburgh. He has a doctorate from the University of Michigan and graduated from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania in 1974.
We need to register all college professors.
Oh, the heck with it. Lets just ban them! Its for the children.
Wild guess here: He was having a passionate affair with a student and he got jealous after she dumped him for someone her own age.
Damn! These obama voters are going ape shit...
Is that some sort of code speak?

will tend to do that
The Love has continued with our prolonged tenure
in the proud State of Tennessee since '86
Be that as it may,
The Georgia Football program
