Actually in this case it is vote no if you want no. The 1F measure should be voted out also. I am voting no on all of them. Hopefully they will all fail.

The CA repubs could hold a convention in a phone booth and have room left for a gang bang.

Hey, my wife and I are Cali Republicans and between the
two of us we can certainly fill a phone booth.
hehe!

Prop 1C has to be the most fiscally irresponsible ballot measure ever conceived. The current lottery is not extracting enough lucre from the populace, so we are going to “borrow” against future lottery revenues and spend it today! Guess what happens when, 5 or 10 years down the road, there isn’t enough lottery money AND we’ve already borrowed those revenues? Are we going to do it again ad infinitum?

The fiscal insanity has to stop NOW.

But I figure this will be couched as “for the chillun’s education” and the dopey electorate will pass it because of their complete economic illiteracy.

“for the chillun’s education”

I'm surprised that the CSEA hasn't pulled out all the stops to get these props passed.

I haven't seen much here in San Diego.

I think it is largely true (sadly). Suddenly voters are upset about raising taxes $16 billion (about $8 billion/year). But over the past 5 years, they have passed $60+ billion in bonds (or approx double that number if you consider interest payment over time.)

Bottom line: Voters are stupid. :-(

I hope you wrong about it passing -- but agree with you on the economic illiteracy
... but why did you limit the description to "economic"? ;-)

Meanwhile, last week I've already received two separate glossy, four-page mailings touting Yes on Props 1A-1F from "Budget Reform Now" (www.CABudgetReformNow.com) *

* Paid for by Budget Reform Now, A Coalition of Taxpayers, Business, Labor, Educators, Public Safety, Seniors, Jerry Perenchio and Governor Schwarzenegger's California Dream Team, a ballot measure committee - Yes on 1A through 1F"

I think lots of people vote on the feel good titles and the first few words of the ballot summary.

You know, like “The Clean Water Act”

Hey! I want clean water! But the devil is always in the details.

I still remember the meeting where they picked 3 pubbies to vote with Democrats to pass the massive tax bill. Then, the rest could all vote against it and say they were anti-tax. That was a pretty evil thing to do to us......But, they killed their party there is no resurrection of it in CA.

California Republicans Vote To Oppose Ballot Measures

(SNIP)

The vote by the party's executive committee followed a lively, hour-long debate that focused on Proposition 1A. The measure would create a state spending cap and bolster California's rainy day fund, two concepts Republicans have long promoted.

But those provisions were overshadowed by triggers in the measure that would extend the sales and income taxes adopted by the state Legislature.

(SNIP)

In a statement released by the campaign supporting the measures, Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca said he was disappointed "this small group of party insiders chose to oppose these reforms" that provide critical state funding.

"This measure will get to the heart of alleviating our budget problems both in the short and long term, and that is crucial for the future of public safety in this state," Baca said.

The party's position puts them at odds with Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger who has said he will work day and night for the budget-related measures.

Ironically, the party has given Schwarzenegger $650,000 this year, which he could use to promote the slate of ballot measures.

(SNIP)

Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner also opposes all of the measures, former eBay chief executive Meg Whitman opposes propositions 1A, 1B and 1C but supports 1D, 1E and 1F, and former Rep. Tom Campbell supports 1A, 1D and 1E, and opposes 1B and 1E. Campbell has not taken a position on 1F.

The CaGOP, as currently configured, is feckless.

Those who see the CaGOP as the last hope for conservatism had better be prepared to role up their selves, attend the next local Central Committee meeting and call out those present as responsible for their current circumstances.

It will take courage to call out the local veterans but no Central Committee can claim innocence in the current turmoil. In Fresno the target is certainly the respected Mike DerManuel who has done little to expose the Wilsonegger Gang. Everybody's favorite blogger, Jon Fleishman also played a prominent role in allowing the New Majority to destroy the party's effectiveness.

. Tom Campbell supports 1A, 1D and 1E, and opposes 1B and 1E. Campbell has not taken a position on 1F.

Is that a writer/editor error or is Campbell really on both sides of 1E?

Aha! I see elsewhere that he supports 1A D, E and is opposed to 1B and C.

I am sad that Campbell is not out in front opposing the massive taxation in 1A and some of the rest .....the government employee unions have captured the state (CA) nothing left to do but leave for Texas or Oklahoma.

there’s a republican party in California?

I believe there are more conservatives in California then there are republicans.

A few of them are republicans also.
