Don’t be surprised if Barry suddenly starts wearing a pair of glasses.
Video glasses.
He could always use earplugs, but evidently that confuses him too much, trying to talk and listen at the same time.
You have no idea! Back when I was in college, reel to reel tape decks were a big thing (early 60s). We were all hanging out at a party when the host came up with what turned out to be a hilarious idea. He had a tape deck that featured record and (more or less) simultaneous play back with separate heads. The intent was for you to be able to monitor what was being recorded. Out came the mike and a pair of headphones and the front page of the local fish-wrapper. The idea was to see how far you could get reading a random news story before you went off the rails. The gimmick was the record and playback were separated by a good inch which gave something like a half to a full second delay to the sound fed back to the earphones, depending on tape speed.
Most people that tried became incoherent within a few words. Interestingly enough as the party progressed and people caught a good buzz their ability to ignore the maddening feedback actually improved (or so it seemed at the time...).
