If Mitt Romney had won the primary and the election, the economic situation in the US (and elsewhere) would probably be much different. Romney’s views on lowering the corporate tax rate alone, to become more competitive globally, would have had a huge impact on US economic numbers. That’s not even taking into consideration lowering/eliminating the capital gains tax, etc., etc., etc.
We will never know.
Mitt had the GOP/RNC elitists already. He has them now. He and they couldn’t get him the nomination. Blabbing about capital gains reduction vis a vis, say, Netherlands isn’t going to win you one state.
Mitt doesn’t and never will have the popular feel, communication, trust, instinct, so he can not get votes.
Besides, his economic ideas are GOP boilerplate, dull, known to death. That is a very weak hook.
Lowering taxes while endlessly increasing the size and scope of government. Insanity itself.
