I heard a radio interview he did years ago in Chicago and he was speaking candidly about his socialist agenda and the cadence and intonation that he used seemed normal and unaffected. He spoke smoothly and far more articulately than anything I have ever heard since he has been running for the presidency. I agree that he needs to teleprompter to keep his lies straight.
Of course, it was a radio interview and he could have been reading from a sheet of paper, but he did seem far more comfortable when we was spouting his true socialist beliefs.

I agree with you. A public speaker who knows and understands their subject can speak off the top of their heads, there is no need for a speech writer and teleprompters, a few note cards is really about it.

Get real, he is a baritone. It is a well known fact that the role of the baritone is to make the basses sound good. I can deliver all of his speeches two octaves below Middle C and they won’t be sonorous, they will be bright and inpsiring.

As Puccini once said: “ The difference between the Tenors and and the Baritones is the color of their lace panties. The basses go commando.”

I doubt it was a setup.

It was more likely that the teacher didn't know how to spell it,

and Mr Quayle, being inculcated with deference to teachers (who score at the BOTTOM of standardized tests),

deferred to the teacher's spelling on the card.

Thanks. I knew that, and I probably should have said it. Poor Dan Quayle was permanently branded as stupid after being set up that way. Obama, on the other hand, can deliver a speech thanking the President of the US for inviting him, and it's just no big deal.
