Obama’s Gun Ban List Is Out
Soldier of Fortune ^ | 13 March, 2009 | Alan Korwin

Here it is, folks, and it is bad news. The framework for legislation is always laid, and the Democrats have the votes to pass anything they want to impose upon us. They really do not believe you need anything more than a brick to defend your home and family. Look at the list and see how many you own. Remember, it is registration, then confiscation. It has happened in the UK, in Australia, in Europe, in China, and what they have found is that for some reason the criminals do not turn in their weapons, but will know that you did.

Remember, the first step in establishing a dictatorship is to disarm the citizens.

Gun-ban list proposed. Slipping below the radar (or under the short-term memory cap), the Democrats have already leaked a gun-ban list, even under the Bush administration when they knew full well it had no chance of passage (HR 1022, 110th Congress). It serves as a framework for the new list the Brady’s plan to introduce shortly. I have an outline of the Brady’s current plans and targets of opportunity. It’s horrific. They’re going after the courts, regulatory agencies, firearms dealers and statutes in an all out effort to restrict we the people. They’ve made little mention of criminals. Now more than ever, attention to the entire Bill of Rights is critical. Gun bans will impact our freedoms under search and seizure, due process, confiscated property, states’ rights, free speech, right to assemble and more, in addition to the Second Amendment. The Democrats current gun-ban-list proposal (final list will be worse):

(i) a folding or telescoping stock,

(ii) a threaded barrel,

(iii) a pistol grip (which includes ANYTHING that can serve as a grip, see below),

(iv) a forward grip; or a barrel shroud.

Any semiautomatic rifle with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds (except tubular magazine .22 rim fire rifles). A semiautomatic pistol that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine, and has:

(i) a second pistol grip,

(ii) a threaded barrel,

(iii) a barrel shroud or

(iv) can accept a detachable magazine outside of the pistol grip, and

(v) a semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds.

A semiautomatic shotgun with:

(i) a folding or telescoping stock,

(ii) a pistol grip (see definition below),

(iii) the ability to accept a detachable magazine or a fixed magazine capacity of more than 5 rounds, and

(iv) a shotgun with a revolving cylinder.

Frames or receivers for the above are included, along with conversion kits.

Attorney General gets carte blanche to ban guns at will: Under the proposal, the U.S. Attorney General can add any “semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General.”

Note that Obama’s pick for this office, Eric Holder, wrote a brief in the Heller case supporting the position that you have no right to have a working firearm in your own home. In making this determination, the bill says, “there shall be a rebuttable presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States military or any law enforcement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, and a shall not be determined to be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event.” In plain English this means that ANY firearm ever obtained by federal officers or the military is not suitable for the public.

The last part is particularly clever, stating that a firearm doesn’t have a sporting purpose just because it can be used for sporting purpose — is that devious or what? And of course, “sporting purpose” is a rights infringement with no constitutional or historical support whatsoever, invented by domestic enemies of the right to keep and bear arms to further their cause of disarming the innocent.

Looks like the Mini-14 is finally on the “naughty” list. All of the past political ass-kissing by Bill Ruger, Sr. was for naught.

One thing that everyone has to remember, they can’t confiscate them all, ever, and they especially can’t confiscate them all before the word gets out that they’ve started.

They will meet with organized resistance shortly after the effort begins.

Just to add one more thought, I think that is why Obama is so all over the place on these things. One day he is raising taxes, the next embryonic stem cell stuff, the next, gun control issues, and so it goes. He knows if he pisses off people on a myriad of issues, the NRAer and the pro lifers will be DIVIDED, each organizing smaller rallies or actions to their congress critters. Divide and conquer. We all have to realize that he is after the very same thing in all cases, weakening our rights as citizens. We have to unite our efforts. we have to include ALL issues on our campaigns to stop the one or two we really care about. We need to have an organized unified message that states clearly what we are supporting. Something like the Founding Fathers Movement, or Founding documents Movement. We can state 5 or so goals that we are unified in working towards, and make the movement as identifiable as Code Pink or Peta. We must rally our conservative groups to UNITE and fight together or we will all die alone.........

If you have not yet done so, please visit www.wesurroundthem.com it is the beginning of the rallying point we have to find. E Plurubis Unum!

That is exactly what hb- 1022 says.

It would ban the most popular pump shotguns too.

It looks like 1911’s are safe. Unless you own a single shot bolt action rifle, it looks like you can kiss the rifle goodbye...

Don't be so sure. There's the catch-all "there shall be a rebuttable presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States military or any law enforcement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes". It looks like they're trying to make it more catch-all by saying if the military uses it, it must be too dangerous for civilians. Wonder if airsoft and paintball guns are coming up soon?

To: marktwain; All

FReepers,

This is a tactic by asking for 150% in the first place, full-well knowing they well not get it all.

They are only looking to get a toe-hold by codicil; the camel’s nose under the tent, if you will.

This will be done as “Common-Sense” gun laws so both sides can sound magnanimous and triumphant to their respective constituencies.

NO COMPROMISE ON GUN LEGISLATION!!!

THIS MUST BE A LINE IN THE SAND!!!

WE WILL NOT OBEY ANY FUTURE UNCONSTITUTIONAL GUN LAWS!!!

“Unless you own a single shot bolt action rifle, it looks like you can kiss the rifle goodbye...”

Where does it say that all rifles other than single shots would be banned?

“there shall be a rebuttable presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States military or any law enforcement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, and a shall not be determined to be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event.”

I read that to include Garands, and 1911s, and P-35s, among others not named specifically on the list.

I fully expect them to shutter the CMP.

Bigger picture: “Golly, Wally. Does that mean those Winchester M70s and Remington M700 bolt action “sporters” that were “procured for use by the United States military” during the Vietnam War are on the list? And does that mean the Mossberg, Winchester, Remington, and Ithaca pump shotguns have to go, too? And what about all those .22 LR “training rifles? And all those Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolvers? And those old Krag rifles? And those Trapdoor Springfields? And those old Colt single actions? . . . And those Sharp's Carbines? . . . And? . . . And? . . . And? . . .”

This is BS but if true and something like this does pass (VERY UNLIKELY) the Gumint will create a 200 million person criminal class over night. Does any fool actually think an American citizen will turn in his/her weapons? This is laughable!

It won't have to. They'll find a way for Holder to do it.
