Time For Steele To Go As RNC Chair
Townhall.com ^ | 3/16/2009 | Star Parker

Posted on 03/16/2009 4:53:43 AM PDT by Servant of the Cross

From what I see, the Republican National Committee representatives who picked Michael Steele as their new chairman made a mistake. I think Steele ought to step aside.

It pains me to say it. But it pains me more to watch the opposition party, the Republican Party, spin aimlessly and leaderless, while the Obama administration shreds to pieces, with ruthless focus and discipline, everything that this country stands for.

Yes, of course, the defining moment for me is the recent GQ magazine interview in which Steele sounds more like a Democrat than a Republican. Does a woman have a right to choose abortion? "Yeah. Absolutely." Is homosexual behavior something an individual can choose? "It's like saying, 'Tomorrow morning I'm gonna stop being black.'"

Should we amend the constitution to define marriage? "I don't like mucking around with the Constitution." I guess Mr. Steele does like mucking around with his own party's platform, which supports such an amendment. (snip)

The Republican Party needs a chairman who wants to fight this fight. It seems pretty clear that Michael Steele is not that man.

I think Star Parker has a lot of credibility on this issue.

Steele's responses in the GQ article make me want to scream.

You can’t get rid of Steele,
He’s a negro. That will look like racism even if it is to get rid of a dumbass rino.

I must disagree, Steele has not had a chance to select a staff or fill any of the other posts in the RNC, to fire him now would appear unserious and Amateurish.

If you liked the DNC of the past, you’ll really like the current RNC.

If you like the current DNC, you’ll love Marxism and fascism.

Re-read his responses in the GQ article. He doesn’t believe in the platform of the party he pretends to represent! To allow him to stay on would not only appear, but would BE, the definition of “unserious”.

It is good to see black conservatives like Parker and Blackwell strongly criticizing Steele. That type of integrity, that put principles first and rejects identity politics is refreshing and encouraging.

I had hoped Steele was a true conservative who softened his positions a bit, to try to get elected in ultra-liberal Maryland.

However, it has become clear that he is a moderate, and even less conservative than he seemed to be.

He clearly does not support much of the party platform and is therefore the wrong man to promote and defend it. He should resign.

You said:"to fire him now would appear unserious and Amateurish."

Right from the horses a$$:

And in an interview with Gentleman’s Quarterly, he (Steele)really stepped in it when he said that abortion was “an individual choice.”

Q: Should people have access to buy assault weapons?

A Steele: Society should draw lines. What do you need an assault weapon for, if you're going hunting? That's overkill.

Who is the amateur?

You are an idiot or a shill - in either case your position is wrong and stupid.

No, no need for /s, let the man serve out his term then replace him, otherwise we will appear as silly as the Dhimmicrats.

At worst, he will rally “us” to get out act together and replace him with someone we like down the road, at best, he will straighten his act up and actually become effective.

Or we could just fold our arms and say “screw that message” and enjoy the fruits of the Obama and Reid reign over us, you chose.

Michael Steele you’re an affirmative Action choice who can’t cut it. Stop embarrassing us and resign

By Kevin “Coach” Collins

http://collinsreport.net

Michael Steele it’s time for you to go. You’re an affirmative action failure who never should have been elected to run the RNC and you scare me. There is no evidence to suggest you have any grasp of your mission as RNC Chairman. With the life of our nation at stake, America has no time for you to learn. Nothing about you gives me hope or confidence we can turn our Party around.

I wanted to reserve my decision and give you the benefit of any doubt, yet frankly Mr. Steele your election as the first Black RNC Chair smelled fishy from the beginning.

After Obama’s election it seemed a bit too politically correct and looked like panicky affirmative action designed to attract people who will NEVER vote Republican anyway.

My suspicions about you proved well founded.

You just don’t get it.

Your remarks about Rush Limbaugh being an entertainer who is “incendiary” and at times “ugly” prove you don’t understand grassroots conservatism. I can’t overlook this shortcoming.

You are the de jure head of the Republican Party, but because of the vacuum your lack of leadership has produced, Rush Limbaugh IS the de facto leader of the Party.

I’m sick of a leaderless rudderless RNC giving us Bob Michel type leadership. I want a Chairman who will stand up and fight for conservatism and be able to distinguish friends from enemies.

Because of you I will revert to “Whitemailing” the RNC. I’ll send your envelops back with a note giving you a piece of my mind, but nothing else. I won’t contribute another penny to the RNC until you are gone Mr. Steele.

I speak only for myself, but I hope others will join me in this insistence that you leave office before we make any further contributions.

And one more thing Mr. Steele please can this “hip hop” crap. The “hip hop” culture will never vote for us and appealing to it only shows how little you understand about how to bring our Party back. It’s a waste of our time and scarce money and those people are laughing at you behind your back. It’s another embarrassment you have brought to us.

Nice, sound argumentation, spending too much time in DUmmy land are we?

When did we become reduced to ad hominens? Is that honestly the best you can muster?

We’ve been sold a lie for a looong while now. We don’t have a two-party system. Once you realize that fact, does it really matter who is Chairman of the RNC?

To keep him would appear unserious and Amateurish...and unwilling to admit and correct mistakes.

What does he have to do? Wear size 58 shoes, a red nose, and climb out of an itty bitty car with the rest of his likeminded cohorts?

Okay, how long do you suppose Conservatives would be tarred with “the hired Steele and fired him in record speed, see, they don’t want a message that mainstream America can support, or is it because he’s black?”

At the moment, we literally have 2/3 of the media or more lining up to take potshots and smear both Republicans and Conservatives, when Rush Limbaugh can merit a month and a half of coverage, how long do you think firing Steele would merit?

The fool responds to the facts with name calling. Steele said it, he dissed Rush and others while he was sitting around chillin wit the homies. Live with it.

HE IS TOO SLOW ON HIS FEET TO DO INTERVIEWS WITH HOSTILE PARTIES.

And no I am not from the DU and that is such a piss poor lamea$$ argument I cannot even believe it. No wonder you support limp Steele.

He was seated less then a month ago, did we elect him be mistake? Do Republicans have any idea what they are doing or trying to do?

To be honest, I’ve followed M Steele’s career since he was Maryland’s Lt Gov, he has always been conservative even to the point he knew it would harm his election chances in the Senate race, this turn is more then likely a focus group bit of nonsense that consultants came up with.

He’s typically a sharp guy, and I’m just as surprised as anyone else that he took that head scratching turn, and to me there is more to the story.

Steele's own words demand it (from the article):

__________________
Does a woman have a right to choose abortion? "Yeah. Absolutely."

Is homosexual behavior something an individual can choose? "It's like saying, 'Tomorrow morning I'm gonna stop being black.'"

Should we amend the constitution to define marriage? "I don't like mucking around with the Constitution." I guess Mr. Steele does like mucking around with his own party's platform, which supports such an amendment.

We all recall his interview with Tim Russert during his 1996 Senate campaign when, after being pushed by Russert, he said he accepted Roe v Wade as "stare decisis" -- accepted legal precedent.

And, of course, there was his involvement with the Republican Leadership Council, which pushed support for pro-abortion and "gay rights" candidates.

Whatever the press challenges that are presented by making this tough and courageous decision now are worth it. Picking Ken Blackwell as the replacement would be a great start too.
