....Sean Sykes and an accomplice stabbed a man in Prince George's County last month and then threatened to kill a witness who saw them dragging the victim out of an apartment building. Sykes was arrested, charged with second-degree murder and held on $1.5 million bond. But when Sykes, 18, appeared in court last week, a judge took an unusual step: He released Sykes to the custody of his mother.
Yesterday, District Court Judge Hassan A. El-Amin defended his decision and denounced the Maryland judicial system's method of determining whether and under what conditions defendants are released before trial... A spokesman for State's Attorney Glenn F. Ivey said... "You might send a school kid home with his mother for playing 'hooky' or acting up in school, but for murder, where the original bond was $1.5 million, with the co-defendant threatening the witness and where the witness lived in the same apartment complex, it ought to be another story."...

Seems reasonable to me. I would bet that in almost all these cases where this judge lets the poor kid go home to Mommy, the witness is never seen again and the accused killer goes free - innocent in a court of law. It would be unfair to lock up an innocent man while awaiting trial for a crime he didn't commit. [See, I can speak liberal.]
El-Amin said. “I read between the lines and listen to the voices.”
With that name I guess we know what voice that is too.
A horrible decision from this judge. It goes waaay beyond lack of judgement.
What’s the judge’s name? Just checking.
Speaking as a PG County refugee, I’m not surprised.
Hassan was not born Hassan, but he is an active member of the ACLU and the NAAACP>http://www.pgcba.com/judge/el-amin.pdf
Well Maryland, Sharia law will not be far behind, prepare yourselves. /sarcasm off
I left Maryland over 20 years ago. I may never succeed as a songwriter here in Nashville, but I often think that having that desire helped God to “deliver me from evil”. The Third World type of governance and society has spread from DC outward to the various suburbs.

Another of this judge’s decisions!
Did you actually read the article? Hassan granted the order; another judge, appointed by Ehrlich (R), rejected it.
“Lewis’s application for a protective order was denied by District Court Judge Crystal D. Mittelstaedt on Aug. 22, according to District Court records.
Lewis had obtained a temporary peace order Aug. 15, according to court records. When he granted the temporary order, District Court Judge Hassan A. El-Amin wrote that Comer was “to be removed from [Lewis’s] home forthwith!”
El-Amin found there was probable cause, after hearing from Lewis, that Comer had been harassing her and trespassing. He scheduled a final hearing for Aug. 22.
Copies of the court records of what happened Aug. 22 were provided by the District Court clerk’s office yesterday. They show that Mittelstaedt rejected Lewis’s applications for a peace order and a protective order.”
Our national defense is now in the hands of judges regardless of IQ, illogic, or other idiotic motivations.
Maryland "Freak State" PING!
Any relation to Idi?
No right to carry for the witness.
