Fed Ex has lost 20% of it's early week stock value in the last 48 hours. The package delivery business is taking a beating but Fed Ex is in free fall. Did the One announce a bailout for them?
You realize that the USPS has a long-term contract with FedEx to move and sort the lion's share of the USPS' Priority and Express Mail, right?
HA! Excellent!
Great! I haven’t seen that one in years.
You noticed that, too? Sitcoms, as well.
DHL is the former Deutsche Bundespost. Still owned by the Germans.
“LED lighted sealed hydroponic systems”
LOL Surprising how many folks are getting into growing exotic and unique Orchids these days.
Not a whole lot of sorting or anything involved although there's terminal handling which can get complex in large centers.
Has a lot to do with late night flights and "locations" ~ passenger air carriers have been pushing mail outta' their holds over the years as they turn themselves into Greyhound buses with wings (and oh those stankmeister toilets, wow!).
My first job at USPS was involved in reviewing airlift opportunities ~ they'd only recently decided to transport First-Class Mail by air everywhere possible. Rates were pretty decent too (for hauling mail). We were just then experimenting withcontainerizing FCM letters so they could be directly dispatched from mail processing operations downtown directly to specific flights at nearby airports. Other guys were working on a bidding system ~ finally implemented ~ that gave each airline a shot at bidding to carry any particular segment of mail.
This stuff was highly dependent on the latest and greatest in roll-on/roll-off technology as well as computers.
Lots of fun hanging around airport ops late at night, riding around in little trucks on the aprons.
Guy down the street still peddles "unsealed units" but he also peddles "filters" ~ that's so the K9 unit won't "alert" out in the middle of the road in front of your house!
What’s that... Brinks Home Security where they stage home invasions and the invader is always a white male... so wrong. Factually wrong, but politically correct.
A large number of the planes are filled with mail heading to the daysort - it's not just a space available deal. These are contracted volumes and are a big part of FedEx's revenue stream.
No doubt there's a transportation analyst at USPS Headquarters working on that problem as we speak. They abuse their top technical staff people horribly.
It was the German Post Office. They took over DHL, 100%, in 2002.
My company uses FedEx for much company package delivery. I've been without contracts since Nov 2008. Again, I've had no need to send or receive any packages.
UPS is anti firearm
Why? Those FED-EX trucks race me down to the freeway every morning at 4:30 AM.
I was not aware of that. But that being said it is a perfect reason for them to be absorbed into the government by reasoning that is it to important to let fail. I still believe that it is the plan of Dems and Obama to nationalize as much of the country as possible. This might not be a main target but if it part of the fallout it would be a bonus for them.
No Monday deliveries? Ground is only closed on weekends. I know of the other divisions (Home Delivery) is closed Mondays. The routes Ground has is run by independent contractors. For a route with three UPS drivers, there is only one Ground driver doing that area. Plus, FedEx Ground drivers don’t have to go on strike every five years or so.
Yes, so “we” (the average 100 IQ American Joe Six Pack) will cry out, “Help!” The “help” will come in the form of a guaranteed job, approximately the same income for all, and the same government housing for all. IOW a nice little series of 5-year plans.
